Finally gave in and upgraded my HORRIBLE old on-board video card to a GeForce 8400 512 RAM. Sure, it's mediocre, but there was nothing for that same price that was any better and still PCI. It arrived today and was surprisingly easy to install. I'm a bit disappointed dunno... I think I was just expecting too much. While it's great to be able to have my computer at 1920x1080, I'm not sure if it was worth 65 bucks. I can play a lot more PC games now, but I've come to the realization that most popular PC games are on Steam, which I refuse to pay for. The only game I can think of that is not on Steam and I can finally play is Resident Evil 4. (yay)
The main point of me getting a new video card was to watch HD movies and anime. However, now that I finally have the video card, I've realized that there really isn't that much HD anime right now. It's a shame that SD anime looks so bad when viewed at 1920x1080 resolution. Also, I recently found out that 1080p movies are basically Bluray movies, which are at least 10Gb in size. Not sure if I want to view my movie at high def THAT badly. But still, I guess it's nice to have the option.
I'm not really sure what I was expecting, but I just feel kind of "meh" about my purchase. Maybe I'll feel better once I figure out how to use the new video card to its full potential.
PS: I'm uploading a new wallpaper pack for you 'tempers. This one only has around 100, but it's 1600x1200. Some are rehashed, most are new.
