Getting blood taken tomorrow, what can I do to calm myself down?

I'm getting my blood taken tomorrow so I can get tested for, well, I don't remember what for exactly (it was multiple things though), and so we can find out what my bloodtype is. I get extremely anxious when it comes to getting a needle stuck into me for any reason whatsoever. Does anyone know of things I can do to calm myself down both before and while I'm getting my blood taken?

It's not that bad. it's like vaccination, but in the other direction.

Worst to happen is a mild pressure drop that causes nausea and dizziness, but that gets away after a few minutes.

I couldn't do it, I totally lost it once I got in the room. I don't really remember what happened other than me yelling when someone got their hand close to either of my arms. They suggested that I go somewhere else where I can get sedated before having my blood taken next time.

Also the drive home took an hour, and the numbing cream only started to work when we were about halfway home.

Idk if someone already said this, but, try to not look at the needle before they use it, I have a fear for needles and I know that seeing it will make me more anxious
also look away, close your eyes or something, it will just torture you seeing that stuff
and try not to think much about it, it can be hard, but it's 95% your thoughts and just 5% the actual pain
good luck!

Try distracting yourself, it usually helps. Though, the nicer nurses will usually talk to you to keep your mind off of things... Besides, if you can keep your mind off of the needle, you'll realize that most of the pain you feel from the needle is actually caused by your fear...

Hey, I have the same problem, last time I passed out, tell the doctor and nurse about this before you start, and also eat and drink to help you from passing out, unless they told you to not eat. In the end it's not a big deal just remember that and sometimes a good nurse makes it not hurt at all.

I've had my blood taken a few times. Once, they tried to use the needle on my ring finger, I think, and the nurse tried about 10 times before she totally awkwardly gave up. Another time, I was so sick I didn't even take notice, and most recently, I spent so much time tense and concerned, that I didn't notice until the needle was already out. It's just a battle of your mental state. It's rough, but once you get over that hurdle, it's nothing.

Think about your waifu.
I always did that. I looked away, sting and it's over.
Meh, I guess that happens.
