Getting blood taken tomorrow, what can I do to calm myself down?

I'm getting my blood taken tomorrow so I can get tested for, well, I don't remember what for exactly (it was multiple things though), and so we can find out what my bloodtype is. I get extremely anxious when it comes to getting a needle stuck into me for any reason whatsoever. Does anyone know of things I can do to calm myself down both before and while I'm getting my blood taken?

I think they just need to prick your finger if they are testing what blood type you are. If they are doing more, it will be more difficult if you focus on it more. Creating a post about it will definitely make you more nervous. Just remember that it's a simple procedure that millions do on a daily basis. There is no risk and it doesn't hurt. In other words... don't worry about it.

nah. he just needs to do all the things i suggested and he'll be fine.

in all honestly though, it is nothing to worry about. You'll be just fine. The worst that could happen is that they accidentally use a knife instead of a needle and cut your arm off. Hoped this helped :)

Serious advice: Don't look at your hands while it's happening. Seriously, that will cause you to tense up, and will make you feel as if it's worse than it actually is.

Just turn your head the other way. Try to remain as calm as you possibly can. The alcohol wipe and stuff before hand should get you a bit relaxed with having the nurse/doctor touching your hand, and when the actual needle starts going in, keep your hands as relaxed as you can. Don't clinch, keep your head the other way until you get the all clear from whomever is taking blood from you.

For the record, I have been having blood taken from me a lot when I was a kid, and that made me somewhat afraid of them growing up. Doing the above is exactly what I did to get over it. I still get a bit nervous whenever I have a blood test, but it isn't a big deal to me anymore thanks to the above. It usually kept me up at night thinking about it.

I've had sooo much bloodwork done in the last few months... probably 30 vials of blood drawn... I am one to pass out at the sight of blood but am a champ when it comes to bloodwork.. Just don't look at the needle or blood vial at all.. just look straight ahead!

I only almost passed out the one time they took 8 vials out... probably from the drop in blood pressure, and lack of blood lmao!

You need to remember best girl in your mind's eye. Never forget that everything you do should be for best girl. Remember every intricate detail from the pantsu color to the shade of hair. From there you need to plan out a full date and then simulate the entire thing in your head. Hopefully by the end, the phlebotomist will be slapping your delusional ass back to reality.

Tc, are you afraid of needle when you get blood taken, or

Are you afraid the result about your blood exam?

In the first case, u are a PUSSY, even my neighbor's 1yo baby doesn't cry about it.

let's see the second option: you are so worried about what you will find in your blood, and you feel so impotent/powerless inside, TC u are a PUSSY in either cases.

Regards.

Pfff... You don't have a clue what you are talking about leon315.

I am 34 and still I get a mild vasovagal reaction when I see a needle getting near one of my veins, or when I see blood coming out of them.

You are not a pussy for having a phobia, hemophobia and trypanophobia are real things, and the only thing that would make you a coward is not having the will to deal with them.

You know you will have some kind of vasovagal reaction, yet you prepare for it and endure. That is it.

@leon315
Now that makes me wonder, you post this type of stuff to bait, right?
You can't be this stupid c'mon man.

@sarkwalvein if you are adult who's affected by needle-phobia, and you do nothing to overcome ur fear, then you are 100% PUSSY, we can not choose how we born but we can choose how we live our life.

@Felek666 nhaaaa, I'm telling the truth, and I m a humble guy, and sometimes truth could be real pain in the ass.

@leon315 but of course one deals with the fear, and if you do not know how you can ask for suggestions as the blog creator did.
If you try to go forth and reinvent the wheel, instead of asking for suggestion, you either are stupid and can't help it but waste your time, or you lack the basic social skills to even ask another person.

There's an very efficient way to overcome the about blood and needles, take ur favourite cheerleader and look at her while doctor takes ur blood XD

Or the entire process only take 2-3min depending how many exams you are going to do, best solution is bring your favourite cartoons, book or even a porn, especially the last one, when you get so fucken haaaaaard, you don't think anything else hahahahha

Regards, pussies
