Getting blood taken tomorrow, what can I do to calm myself down?

I'm getting my blood taken tomorrow so I can get tested for, well, I don't remember what for exactly (it was multiple things though), and so we can find out what my bloodtype is. I get extremely anxious when it comes to getting a needle stuck into me for any reason whatsoever. Does anyone know of things I can do to calm myself down both before and while I'm getting my blood taken?

Bring your phone in or a game system and watch YouTube or something. I mean once the needles in it doesn't really hurt anymore. Basically anything to distract yourself.

It doesn't hurt and is over in seconds, you will be fine man :)

Smoke some weed or something. Seriously though it doesn't hurt that bad and if it stung for awhile afterwards they probably fucked up and couldn't hit the vein right away. If they do it right you will barely feel anything when they stick you and you won't even really realize they stuck you afterwards.

If blood is going to be taken from your finger, you're not alone. I used to have blood taken from my finger when I was a kid, and I hated it until I got used to having it taken from my arm instead. Just try to stay calm as you can, and consider yourself lucky if your shot is going to be in the arm. It's one of the least painful places to have blood taken from.

I'm fairly sure it's going to be taken from my arm, like it was last time.

don't eat breakfast. you'll start to pass out, then they'll give you a juice or something. it takes a bit longer, but your out of it pretty much the entire time. works for me. I have to get the full workup every year.

Your finger? Lucky.
Your veins? Pray to god that you will get a experienced nurse. Some have to try 2 times to finally hit your vein... it hurts... it feels weird...

It happens to me all the time. I have a horrible hemophobia.
As for what works for me... nothing works perfectly, but here some suggestions:
Ask them to let you lie in a stretcher while they take blood from you.
Don't look (at least for me looking at the damn needle is the worst).
Take a deep breath, hold your breath and wait, again: don't look.

Afterwards ask them for a sugar cube and be prepared to lie for a couple of minutes in the stretcher. You may be dizzy for a little while.

Solved. Not perfect, but it makes the thing less uncomfortable. At least for me.

Oh, you will be bleeding from your arm.
Do. NOT. STRETCH YOUR ARM. You will bleed even more then.
Speaking of experience, keep your arm straight, or you will literally shoot blood.

If you can, listen to some music. Most doctors should be fine with it. Can't see why they wouldn't be~

Avert your eyes, either way. I don't know about you but I can't stand the sight of a lot of my own blood.

even better tip: request they sacrifice the blood to satan when you're finished. then they won't know what to do with themselves.

will it only takes a few secs and does not really hurt really bad at all and if you get some one who knows what they are doing you will not even know they are doing it untell after they are done so keep your eyes closed and it would be over really fast.

I think it's better to look. Cause then youre too busy feeling silly about being afraid of a tiny needle than having your eyes closed imagining some impending pain.

Relax and don't look to your arm. That's what I do. It hurts, but it only takes some seconds. After it, you will think it was nothing. Just don't think on it
