Getting blood taken tomorrow, what can I do to calm myself down?

I'm getting my blood taken tomorrow so I can get tested for, well, I don't remember what for exactly (it was multiple things though), and so we can find out what my bloodtype is. I get extremely anxious when it comes to getting a needle stuck into me for any reason whatsoever. Does anyone know of things I can do to calm myself down both before and while I'm getting my blood taken?

Avert your eyes from the needle and bite down on something while the needle is injected. Then you can relax. I've had plenty of blood drawn, it's not so bad; it only tickles for a second or two.

There is around 5 liters of blood in your body. An average blood test draws less than ten milliliters. That's less than .01% of your blood. Nothing is going to happen.

actual advice: get an erection and ask them to draw it from your penis. if you are a girl get a penis.

It's really not that bad. Seriously. Unless your scared to death of needles. It doesn't even hurt really. I've had tons of blood taken because I had a low white blood cell count for a while (I'm fine now).

Last time I had my blood taken to get tested for celiac, it stung like hell for quite a while afterwards. I'm going to have numbing cream put on before getting my blood taken this time, but I'm still nervous for some reason.

Do technically illegal bush/tree trimming because you're legally required to get them trimmed and you can't afford a professional. Thanks Chris.

I fainted the last time I had blood taken lmao. It doesn't really hurt it just feels weird. Make sure you eat something sweet right after.

Just don't look, you will feel a prick and that's it. After that you will wonder what the big deal was.

The nurse will probably notice your anxious anyway, distract you and before you know what's happened the worst is over.

I feel you on an emotional level. I hate needles, never have liked them. The best thing I can tell you to do is think of something else while it's happening, just look away, talk with someone, anything! I'm in the same boat with you. I've got a doctors appointment on Wednesday, and they are most likely going to take my blood. Good luck! You got this!
