Couldn't think of an adequate title, so there you go. This is actually just a rant about growing up - I really feel like I understand how my parents felt - I know that my feelings are wrong, and are just "misery loves company"-style things, but still.
My girlfriend and I were texting tonight, and she started complaining (insert sexist joke here) about having a maths class on a Saturday, after explaining to me that all she did today was watch TV and look up some birthdays. Naturally, I don't say anything. Later, she starts complaining about how there is nothing (that she wants to) to eat in her house (for reference - her dad makes 150+K per year, and her mom is a stay at home....erm....wife, would be a better word - their house is FULL of food because her mother goes grocery shopping literally every other day).
I know it shouldn't, and I definitely don't hold it against her, but it really really irks me. Since school started, I don't get a day off until winter "break". If I'm not at work, I'm at school (of course, I get a few hours after the store closes to get ready for bed and do classwork), and I still don't make enough for a decent amount of food, and even then I can't eat while my landlord is sleeping (he gets pissed - I rent a room in a townhouse, and he sleeps on the couch next to the kitchen).
I mean, with my parents, I didn't complain to them about things, and its not exactly the same situation, but it really bugs me...I know its just American nature to complain, and its human nature to always feel bad, even when others have it much worse (allows us to strive for more, I guess?), but it really gives me a headache listening to bellyaching about nothing. She has well over half of her time to dink around and is completely provided for. I work my ass off for second-rate produce.
Blah.
Congress needs to have salary restrictions set to minimum wage. Seriously.
