Enterprise 2.0

Enterprise 2.0
the future of business?!?!?!?
enterprise20.jpg
Damn... topic title makes me look like I am a random spammer since the topic doesn't at all fit into the whole gaming theme this site is oriented around.

Anyways, I am studying Enterprise 2.0 at university and as part of my assessment I am required to write a blog post every week @ http://raing3.wordpress.com/. Well I haven't been updating it every week but don't tell anyone... hush hush... ok.

Also part of the assessment criteria says "Ability to engage successfully with the wider community (including people outside of QUT) using Web 2.0 tools and techniques."

So I would like to ask everyone the following question(s). Please try and write something moderately intelligent so I can easily respond and "engage with the wider community".

What is your opinion of social networking tools? Can they be useful? How?
What is your opinion of the usage of social networking tools within an organization (both in-house tools to improve productivity and such as well as the usage of public tools like twitter and youtube for promotion and such)? What are the risks of these tools?
How has GBAtemp managed to build up such a reputation on the internet on the internet and gain such a large user base? (PS. try to say something other than paricy)

Also if you are really bored comment on my blog mentioned above.

PS. The assignment is due tonight and I left everything to the last minute because I keep getting bored when writing my weekly blog entry.

Already... I'm guessing this blog probably won't get too many comments since it is such an "unusual topic" but c'mon. So many of you overly love giving your opinion on GBAtemp, I want your opinion too. :teach:

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to post. :)

They're nice, but I think people go a bit overboard sometimes. I think they can be useful, by allowing one to keep in touch with old friends (high school, college, etc) and family that might live in other parts of the country.

On in-house tools, as long as the people using them don't simply use them for bickering and idle chat during work hours, then it's fine. On public tools, it does seem somewhat unprofessional to simply use a Facebook account instead of a website or have links to YouTube videos, but I can see the benefit as well. It costs nothing to use these services, so more money is reserved for any other use. They're great tools for smaller companies, who might not have the funds to develop their own services.

I'd say user-friendliness. Many of the tutorials are very simple and even when there is confusion, someone will usually be able to clear it up. Other than that, there's a great community and the range of services has grown to a pretty awesome range (blogs, a download center, picture uploading, etc). Overall quality of the site.

I very much agree with people overusing the social networking platforms. They could be used so much more efficiently and it is a shame to see that so many people only utilize these tools for telling the world what they are eating for lunch or that they have just hoped on the train.

I have to slightly disagree with you in regards to your view point of these tools in the business as there are now many companies who are middle to large in size who utilize these tools for advertising their product. Some professions like lawyers and doctors probably wouldn't be best suited for advertising using these systems but many retails can get quite a boost from advertising their products on these sites.

The user friendliness of this site is a great plus in my opinion. Another thing which I think helps attract users to this site is how well the site is configured and laid out with an excellent theme design and many user customizable options. All in all though I agree with you and think the community spirit is what really keeps this site going, there are so many helpful users which utilize this website for sharing a variety of information and answering questions asked by other users.

Thanks for your reply. :)

Speaking of meatballs, what's the deal with meatball sandwich? How can people eat those? It's ROUND. Trying to bite those in a sandwich is a challenge. It's easier to eat a burger stacked with toppings. :ninja:
