duplex printing is a pain .

well in my house , i have like 4 printers that are used ;
- one designed for Photoprinting
- one black and white laser printer
- one Network printer

and the last one , some printer my dad brought back from the dead ; a Lexmark x4270 . that thing , i have no idea why we stopped using it . ever since we got that black and white laser printer, this thing hasn't gotten any use . realizing we needed a colour printer, that's when this Kodak printer came in . then we have another printer that's connected to our network . then this network printer does everything , but i am told not to use it since i will just end up wasting ink .

as i was saying ... so this Lexmark printer , my dad bought a color and black + white ink cartridge for this printer . it's those generic ones, the ones you can just refill by some independent store at the mall . he brings it home and wanted to test the ink . though he doesn't know what to print, he noticed me on the computer looking at some guides for games . i told him i wanted to buy it , but he said no cause they're a complete waste of money . instead he offered the usage of this printer and i just started printing one of the guides [Tales of Vesperia guide] . i also asked if it did double sided printing to save paper and he showed me how to do it .

after seeing it , i was just like , damn that's a pain ... but i will save WAAAY more money then buying the guide. if i bought the guide, i'd be spending at least $20 per book but since i print it , it'd be cheaper IMO [$1 for a binder, $5 for 300 pack of paper, $15 for ink ...?] . well even if it does cost more for a singlebook, this would be cheaper in the long run since i can see myself printing some more guides :3 .

i've printed, 40 pages double sided , so in total , i've printed 80 pages in a book :D . can probably finish the whole guide by midnight or tomorrow morning . if i had a laptop , this wouldn't be necessary but if anyone wanted to borrow these, i'd be willing to let them borrow it . non-profit ftw !

hey thats great, I'm curious whats the exact model that your using? I need a new printer for high quality prints for my graphic arts projects.

Oh man I remember when I was a kid...

When I first discovered the endless wonders of the internets, I found Gamefaqs and their lengthy user-written complete game walkthroughs. These were awesome to read, but back then, AOL dial-up was pay-as-you-go or something... the longer I was online, the more my mummy got charged.

So I, in my infinite young wisdom, came up with a brilliant plan. Find a walkthrough I really liked, load the whole page, cut off the internet, AND PRINT IT ALL OUT TO READ WHEREVER, WHENEVER I WANT. Now I don't know if you're ever seen a user-written walkthrough from Gamefaqs, but it's nothing but hundreds (literally) upon hundreds of pages with nothing but text, it looks like it was typed up in Notepad.

And the funny thing was, back then, our family didn't really have money to be wasting on recreational things like video games, I think the only thing I owned was a GBC and one game (Harvest Moon) for a long time. I was printing up 200 page walkthroughs for the latest games on the latest systems, just so I could read through it and find out what the game was really like (kind of sad, but at the same time, GODDAMN I WAS A STUPID LITTLE SHITBAG).

Needless to say, my mummy got wind of the plot and stopped me with a WTFRUDOIN look about 70 pages in. God, I wanna travel back in time so bad so I can slap my own shit.

But yeah, PRINTER STORIES.

umm .. i don't remember the Kodak printer , but i will check it tomorrow xD .
Lexmark x4270 , but they're out of production .

LOL . i remember Gamefaqs guides ! they were guides made in Notepad :3
then people would make the title of the game in the guide made of slashes , and such . xD
good times good times .

I still use gamefaqs after all these years cept I never printed the guides out I just loaded the page and clicked file>save page as I was smart I didn't waste my parents precious ink :teach:

    that seems more useful

    Do GPUs need 256GB?
  • Veho @ Veho:
Would it be better to have several GPUs with less RAM than one GPU with tons of RAM?

    they do for AI
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
GPUs don't share RAM that way, in most cases anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
each GPU needs its own copy

that's why SLI sucks, well one reason

    SLI sucks?
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Did not know that.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Anyway, I didn't mean GPUs could somehow share RAM, I meant is one GPU with 256GB RAM really better than two GPUs with say 64GB RAM each? Can a GPU as it is now really use all the RAM?
