Drumming with Mark # 2 - Testing New Pieces

I made a new video and took some pics of some new drum stuff I got this week, figured I'd post 'em here.

Here's the pics:

Hehe, you can see my feet :P

Second Bass drum (CB maybe? I got this from my concert band teacher, FOR FREE!) To keep it in place, a Rock Band 2 Drum Set box is in front of it :D My old CB pedal is with this bass drum now.

Gibraltar Pedal, me likes.

CB Splash on Gibraltar Arm Extension (not actually a splash, its an old hi-hat :P)

My drums are at a different angle now, easier to get in and out, plus it's better for cleaning.

Not bad, its better than the first one. I am kinda jealous that you got that second bass drum for free, I always wanted one but I am sent with my DW 7000's right now. I love those things. It took me awhile to get good at double bass, it seem to be doing gallops the whole video basically (I am not sure if you actually mean to do it or not) but here is a hint. If you want to go fast on the double bass play more towards the bottom of the pedal and just kinda shake your feet like your nervous for a test or something, but shake it a little harder than that. That's what I do and I am a beast at Double Bass XD.

Anyways, nice video, I can't wait to see more. It looks like you are making progress. I have a new video that I recorded like 2 weeks that I still need to put on YouTube, its probably my best to date.

Thanks NeSchn :)

Yeah, I wanted to get a double bass pedal set, but one day I saw that just sitting in the corner of the band room, collecting dust. Yeah, I was taking some bitsfrom Panic Attack, by Dream Theater, which has some galloping :P Hmm, thanks for the tip, I'll try that out. I'll be waiting for your next vid :D

Your welcome, I should actually post it right now and put up the link. I have been doing crazy shit, I showed some kid up at my show last night. He was sitting there thinking he was play sick beats and I completely showed him up, after I got done he just kinda stopped and walked away. I think he was a little angry XD.

There it is, I hope it works. I got the URL from Facebook and it said it would work anywhere.

Description from Facebook that I put:

"W00T, here is the newest video. I just made it like 20 minutes ago. Hope you enjoy.

Sorry for the really dark video quality, It looks good on the camera then I put it on the computer and its dark as hell.

Just incase you are wondering I use:

CB 6 Piece Drumset
Remo Rototoms
DW 7000 Double Bass Pedals
Gibraltar Double Click Pads
CB, PDP, and Pearl Cymbal Stands
LP Cowbell
14" Paiste 502 Hi Hats
16" Zildjian Scimitar Crash
18" Paiste 302 Crash/Ride (Cracked D: )
14" Wuhan China Cymbal
20" Sabian B8 Ride
Ahead Joey Jordison Signature Sticks

Everything on my drumset is bought by me (or with the help of friends which I pay back), My parents don't buy me much for my drumset so thats why I sell stuff on eBay lol. I need a job.

ENJOY!"

I have been playing for 8 years, I am constantly learning more things everyday. I have to say that I learned loads off of Martin Lopez (old drummer from Opeth), he is basically my drum god. I can't even explain how much technically and jazz fills and such I have learned from the man. He is amazing.

Not all of those 8 years has been serious though, I have to say I have been serious for maybe 5 or 6 years, I am not sure, I basically fully started in 5th grade which would be about 6 years. I play everyday as my finger will hold up, I use Joey Jordison Ahead Drumsticks and the GripTape on them cuts up my skin on my pointer finger and makes it hurt like a bitch, but I usually play an hour or so a day, one day I played for almost 3 hours straight because there was nothing to do.

Oh man, I want a second Bass drum for free. Lucky.
Yeah I just started this year too, been about 9 months, Absolutley love drumming, until my neighbors come over and complain. Damn elderly people. >>

Yeah basically the same with my parents. 8:30 on weekdays and 9:00 on weekends.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@Xdqwerty, Retroarch is an awesome bit of software but yeah I have always felt the UI needed a lot of hmmm simplifying? Maybe just better organized?

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
There are a lot of front ends that use Retroarch, depending on what your running them on they can make Retroarch fairly painless

Damn I had 13 inch of snow fall last week, n just got 3 inch more today. Tired of shoveling already. The older I get, the more I hate winter. No wonder why old people move to Florida.
