Dolphin compression still impresses me

Isn't this more or less related to scrubbing or garbage removal? GC/Wii discs are always filled to the maximum – with seemingly (not really) random data where no actual data is.

Nintendo optical discs come in three sizes (four if you count Wii U discs): GC≈1.4GB, Wii≈4.3GB, Wii-DL≈8GB (Wii U should be around 23GB thinking of single layer BDs).

That, plus every Wii disc has a partition with a copy of the Wii Menu for that region + relevant IOSes, so that people without internet access can update their Wiis. Dolphin compression seems to toss that part of the disc out the window along with the extra whatever they add to make the disc a full 4.3GB or 8GB
