CURSE YOU KINGDOM HEARTS!!!

Maybe my PC's burner is just crap but I can't get Kingdom Hearts to work in my PS2 no matter what I try... I've been at it all day.
Methods tried...
1. Swapmagic - NO LUCK nice message of "Please insert PS2 disk"
2. CDLoader+DVDLoader - Neither load in swapmagic *facepalm*
3. ERS - Loaded direct from swapmagic and patching the KH iso...no luck "No media in tray" apparently...
All discs burnt using IMGBurner...
This is annoying the hell out of me!!!! Piracy is so much easier on the PC or Handhelds...why oh why did I try to make it into the big boys... *hangs head*

Oh well back to revision for that exam I have tomorrow, FUN FOR ME!!!!! Though I do enjoy the time off.

Got a 20gb IDE HDD I could use but no external casing for it to use USB. Also need a PS2 Memory card for softmodding...my brother's one has too much stuff on it and I don't want to delete it.
Have been burning low speeds but on Tesco DVD-RWs. It could easily be my PC (its shit) Might try and figure out some way of getting the images up to my brother's PC and burn it there...
Anybody know how to create RAR archives in many parts?

Thats your problem.

Ironically, due to a fuck up from a third party seller on Amazon, I ended up with a free copy of that game. So I now have two original copies.

Next you'll be saying you have Tesco Mobile.

Set options with WinRAR (or whatever you use) when you're about to compress it

Nah, their phones are overpriced. I use orange.

The Tesco DVDs are fine, how many rewrites they can survive I don't know though.

Anybody know where I might be able to get a hold of a cheap IDE External Harddrive enclosure? Could be handy for things other than piracy...

Say Wut!?

buy DVD-R in bulk from somewhere like SVP (google it) and buy 100 DVD-R for something like £9 and stop worrying about pockets if a disk messes up you have lost/wasted a whole 9p ..big deal!

If your failing with lots of burns then somethings wrong with either your burner is crap (not likely) ..Different burning software or don't have dozens of different burn tools installed they can cause a lot of headaches when they all compete with drivers/dll's etc...It could just simply mean that your media is crap so use a better media with a better dye content such as Taiyo Yuden altho not cheap are excellent media... (Or use like I do Riteks that are usually G05 or A1 dye based I rarely get any problems with these dyes and media)

Also your burning too fast for your media slow it down whats the hurry even though its rated at 16x maby half the speed to 8x or even to 4x just be a little more patient and it will no doubt work ...another tip would be to don't or try not use the computer when burning if the machine is a laptop or low spec with ram such as 1gb of ram as these factors can lag the burn or make it a bad burn process :)

Rule of the thumb is ...find a method/software and brand of blank that works and stick with it!

How about considering getting a hard drive and use with the ESR usb loaders... they are cheap enough Tesco's have some good deals on 500gb hd's for about £40-£50 then burning to disks does not matter anymore!

To be honest DVDRW are not really worth the hassle they are more expensive than DVD-R per disk ....and they are only good for a few GOOD burns before they deteriorate and start messing up ....even moreso if they are poor quality dye based :(

i use a combination of modchip plus the memcard exploit i just use a ps1 game to boot the exploit and load the hdd up =] but i have a network adapter for the hdd

Yeah I know, I'm just looking into this stuff out of curiosity therefore I do not want to spend much money on it. And actually I believe my burner is crap, its fine for DVDs and data discs but the PS2 just doesn't like them (they come up in ESR as "No Media Inserted")
If I was to using an HDD I wouldn't spend £40-50 on one which would only have a few ISO files on it, I would spend £15 on a IDE external casing for a 20gb harddrive I have lying around, hell I have 2! They're good quality drives, just old and small. I could fit about 4-5 games on each (depending on size)

I recommend Verbatim DVD-R Disks At The Slowest Burn Speed on IMGBurn. Everytime I burn a disk it works ;) BTW if you have codebreaker you can put your save data on the memory card to a USB Drive n save as much as you want to.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, HDDs over a certain capacity won't work. i used my 320 Gig. Passport and it didnt work, i forgot the limit, and the HDDs are kinda slow when you play with them compared to the Disk.

I think its my DVD drive crapping out on me, it can't read 2 discs. 1 I erased and 1 I burned yesterday. Both make odd clicking noises in my PC and refuse to be read but work fine in my brother's PC...

Man my PC sucks arse.

If you use MCBoot (For all PS2s Fat or Slim) you dont have to use a PS1 game :DDD

EDIT Aw darn i double posted....oops how do you delete a post?

nvm....

That doesnt sound too good :O, well at least his comp seems to be working, and do you plan on using his?

Yep, this PC's good for data discs so i'm burning the ISO file to one for him to burn as well as CDLoader, if that doesn't work I patch the ISO and reburn.

Update: Yes, its my burner. My brother burnt it and now it works fine

    Ah, that's where mine went

Well, I grew up speaking English at home, my family had lived in Zimbabwe for a couple decades before returning to Portugal.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
There's also the fact that most all games and stuff was in english
  • HUNTERFOX @ HUNTERFOX:
    Tbh, I've never left Usa
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
So I grew up used to games in english. Seeing games translated to Portuguese feels cringe, especially when it's the cheap, low class, crappy variant of Portuguese (aka, Brazilian P

    ortuguese).
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
I always play games in English
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
    Italian translations suck ass
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@_Ruri_, I only play games in English when:
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    1. Theres no spanish translation (either official or fanmade)
    2. If it is translated, it sucks
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
Tbh I'd like to play them in Japanese but I don't have enough fluency yet so English it is lol
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
@Xdqwerty, I see. I always play them in English because even when translation isn't ass it's still cringe having games in a language that isn't English or Japanese imho
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
Only game I played in Japanese is Pokémon Red because it's piss easy to understand lol
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@_Ruri_, I was learning japanese but then I forgot
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
@Xdqwerty, Well it's not exactly an easy language, learning it is kind of a big commitment

  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
You only learn it if you're a total psycho devoted heart and soul to the land of Nihon such as myself
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
I mean even my handle is a Japanese name lol
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
Even listening to a Japanese song rn
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@_Ruri_, If I knew both japanese AND romhacking I would make my own fan translations of several games
  • _Ruri_ @ _Ruri_:
@Xdqwerty, Fan translations are pretty cool.
Fate/stay night (2004) literally survived in the west for 20 years based on a fan translation lmao. Didn't have an official English translation until last year lol
