Whats up with Today's Cartoons?

Is random really that popular? I swear, I watched some new show Cartoon Network has been showing for a few minutes. Its called "Adventure Time".
I just flipped the show on and here is some yellow dude all mangled up in a hospital bed with the sign "You smell like Dog buns" beside him. WTF are they feeding kids these days? :wtf: Theres is even a show called "The Random Show". And guess what? Its just a bunch of random nonsense. Who would have guessed that??? The fact that kids enjoy this stuff sickens me. Anyone else agree that stuff kids watch these days is garbage?

Comments

Kids minds are garbage today, so material appropriate for them is created accordingly.
Heck I miss Courage the Cowardly Dog and Hey! Arnold THOSE were good cartoons.

This. I don't give a shit what people say, Spongebob is actually making kids stupid. There's no morals or anything in it. It's a joke.

If I ever have kids of my own, I'm going to let them watch toons, but toons that I watched as a kid, that allowed me to become who I am today.

Not all good cartoons have to be educational, tho anything educational these days are to kid like.

I would still watch Animaniacs. You not saying all the shows you listed are educational, correct?

Also,

I'm going to let them watch toons, but toons that I watched as a kid

going to be hard to enforce.
If you where not a kid in the 80's then you got and are still getting hosed. All the best stuff was back then, (Thundercats, Ducktales, The Gummy Bears, Fraggle Rock, SilverHawks, Wheeled Warriors, and M.A.S.K.)

Hell, even Rainbow Bright, My Little Pony and the Popples was better then this crap that's on now.
do they even know? kommand isn't with a kayyyy-ay.

couldnt find a vid robot chicken put a copyright on youtube about it.

I'm probably going to be shot, flamed, and banned somehow for even mentioning this but uhhh...My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic is LEGITIMATELY NOT BAD.

Kay attack me now :glare:

And when this generation of cartoon watchers grows up to the average age here, they'll be saying the same thing. How their cartoons were always so good and now kids have such shit cartoons.

I've tried watching some of the older cartoons (namely the comedy ones) and they're really bad, outside of a few. I was never a big cartoon kid but I never felt like I was missing anything in retrospect.

EDIT: Nowadays we have Avatar: The Last Airbender, the upcoming Legend of Korra or whatever it's called, Thundercats 2011 (it's supposed to be good from what I've heard), Adventure Time, Regular Show, etc, all of which are pretty solid.

No it isn't. If you take shows from pre-2001 and compare it to shows now, it's not even a contest. Shows have constantly been on a downhill. The quality and effort put into them is constantly diminishing. With today's tv standards, it's not very hard to get on TV at all.
Are you kidding? Adventure Time is one of the stupidest and funniest modern cartoons there is. Same goes for Chowder.
+1
Anyway Spongebob is the best!

I used to watch a lot of cartoons when I was of age 10 and under, but the shows are just getting crappier and crappier each year, at least for Cartoon Network. There are only a few shows that I still know of on Cartoon Network that are great. I don't watch TV at all anymore. Even if I do watch TV sometimes, I'd rather watch shows like Supernatural, House M.D., and some others.

I lol'd. Is there any plot to that show? From what I saw it was peanut butter sandwiches running around in circles making fun of someone!
Adventure Time is actually stupidly complex if you look into it. The whole world is actually following an apocalypse and has stupidly large amounts of metaphors, tongue-in-cheek jokes, and references.

Plus Jake is voiced by Bender. Can't beat that.

lol Rocko rocks!!
oh man... we're old

I think Guild is right. We think shows are awesome because they are the shows we grew up with. We were so young we didn't we really have a defined taste in what we liked to watch. Now that we do, most shows appear to be stupid because of their target audience.
I thoroughly enjoy "Regular Show" and "Adventure Time". Come at me bro.
I come at you...

Well played, my good sir. Well played...

Um.. Hello?

Lol, these don't even scratch the surface..

It's amazing. I have multiple reasons for thinking so. However, one specific reason. xD

Um...I think Guild was just saying that Adventure Time is a complex show.
Does anybody remember RECESS?!?!?!
Yeah, but for some reason that show never really stuck with me.

If you wanted, you could argue that the cartoons of the last generation weren't as good as the Mickey Mouse era of cartoons (Which any cartoon historian would coincidentally). The sad thing is, quality will always decline since fresh ideas become stale, and so new, yet dumb ones, take their place. Making up new and good ideas is hard in this day in age, and anyone who tries to reinvent the wheel is accused of ripping off the original. It's a bad cycle that can't be broken.

I think adventure time is an excellent show and the creator of spongebob agrees. The show was pitched to nickelodeon, he said that the execs just dont get it. I can't stand people that can't see past their nostalgia goggles. Just face it crap then is crap now and you aren't better than the current generation. There were tons of crap cartoons in the 90s. Almost all 80s cartoons were horrible.

The best cartoons from the 90s were random and stupid as adventure time. Like ren and stumpy. Cartoons have been random and stupid since the beginning. In the black and white ones everything in the environment bounced, whistled and sang. Looney tunes made random impersonations of pop icons

Anyway. You simply don't get it and that's your problem and not the current cartoons
Does anybody remember RECESS?!?!?!
Yup, have the whole series downloaded. :creep:

EDIT: Who remembers Marvel Super Hero Squad? Yea I watched that, I liked it. Then I started watching Friendship is Magic with my little sister when she had it on. (Never heard of it before then.). I see the same humor. IMO those 2 aren't bad shows either and are fairly recent.

Adventure Time is pretty good IMO. I legit laugh at some of that stuff.

But to be honest, cartoons years ago were better. Who remembers Cow and Chicken? Or the original Dexters Lab? Or I Am Weasel?

I'd say it started going downhill after Megas XLR got cancelled. That was one show that should not have stopped.

The problem with today's cartoons is that they're too protective and stupid.

I remember Dexter's and Cow and Chicken, alot of those had dark humor and used language like "stupid", "nerd", "idiot", which is unheard of today. I see it alot in Adventure Time which is why it's funny. The dark humor in adventure time is awesome!

That's my take on it. Kids are so protected these days it's ridiculous.

Edit: Also the taking away of danger from cartoons. back in my day people died in cartoons. Everything is so safe nowadays. It gets boring.
