I hate Kroger, They have ruined everything

As some of you may know my wife and I found out that we are going to be parents after 5.5 years of wanting to be and today when my wife (who works as a Nationally Certified Rx Lead Tech @ Kroger) told her boss she was pregnant she was told congrats to her face but then at 8 when she got off work they called her upstairs and said she had to either work in the bakery or be terminated. She has a 99.7% Positive review rating for 7 straight quarters now and the day she tells them she is pregnant bam this happens. Uh heck no! She didn't do all that work and go to all those classes to get certified to work in a bakery she is a Pharmacy Tech, a Lead Tech at that! I know this state is employ at will but she is a member of a Union she has rights, and this is not fair! Ahhhh, now we lose our insurance for the baby/me/her prenatal checkups, delivery, post delivery care (god forbid it be needed) and she is so stressed by this I am afraid she will miscarry. Owhhh how I hate Kroger right now. Now she is going to be a part time cookie baker in the bakery, instead of the Nationally Certified Full Time Lead Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy. I swear if she miscarries over this I will sue Kroger. Sorry for the rant off topic and all but after being so Happy yesterday I am so Mad Today.

Wow, to me that is not right. Jobs are still tight and the economy is still taking a great toll on the workers, even though economists say the recession is over. Most likely the company just does not want to use the money any more. I wish you the best for you and your wife, and I hope she gives birth to a healthy child. For now there is not much you can really do, you can ask a lawyer to see if they can give you any advice, other than that I don't really know. best of luck

Go to the workers union, state your case and they will hopefully sort it out, sorry to hear that though.

Just curious but do you have a job or was it all on your wife's income?

I worked for Kroger for 2-3 years before I joined the US Marines. Go speak to your Union rep, you pay them for a reason.

Yeah I have a job in an odd sense. I buy small unknown companies that are failing but still have potential and then turn them around, grow them a bit and then sell them off to the competitor they most threaten or if their is no direct competitor I just hire a manager to run it for me and wait for a buy out offer from someone/market it as for sale. Its not a normal 9-5 M-F with a weekly paycheck but its a living.

P.S. We called the union and they said they will try to help but there is nothing they can do until Wed. at the earliest.

Pretty sure thats illegal, even in the states. EOE and all that, you can't fire someone because of a medical condition.

Call your lawyer, they should have the info you need and if you can fight it they will be ready and willing to help.

I know that your wife's job is important, but I hope everything goes fine with your baby.

My wife and I found out that we're going to be parents two months ago, :yay: thank God my wife works in a goverment organization and that we happen to know very well her boss's boss, so when she told him about her our pregnancy he couldnt do anything about it, cause if he could... I don't even want to think about it.

I truly hope you'll find some way to solve this.

It's funny how topics create opportunities from Tempers.

On topic: The boss is jealous, don't go into much detail about it. Also it can be for a fact that the drugs around the Pharmacy is potentially dangerous to be around during pregnancy. Heck, let's not be so hasty about the matter. Most times a crisis happens before the award.

@Cononbeat234: I am really confused by what you said but the best I can tell is you think my wife's boss did this because he wants her.... FAIL her boss is gay, and that RX's are dangerous for pregnant women, again FAIL several of her coworkers at her prior job at CVS worked during their entire pregnancies so thats not true, as for the crisis award thing all I can say is what/huh?
