Comptia A+ is an F minus

So I am a certified IT technician thru the comptia A+ program. But if I were to go apply for a job and they ask for proof at the moment I wouldn't be able to provide it. Why you ask??

Because, not so subtle irony here, the portion of the A+ website were you go to confirm and officially register your status as a technician is down.
You might say "So wait abit, it will be back up". The problem is I have been waiting, for a solid month infact now. Almost immediately after I passed my test the website went down. A full damn month ago.

What kind of self respecting computer teaching industry standard IT specialized website is down for a straight MONTH. They even changed their estimated time of recovery about 3 times.

I called their number and they will not assist me in registering over the phone either.

Gotta wonder if they were following their own "best practices". Do they not have a back-up. Redundancy? Fault tolerance of any kind!

What a joke. Hope they fire someone and offer me a job.

They probably outsourced their site maintenance because it was cheaper than paying their own trained techs to do it. "Best practices" is an expensive sport. Quadruple redundancy is fine and all, but it's hella money.

On the other hand, if we want to get nasty, this doesn't speak well of their own expertise.

Yeah. I mean, why don't you fix it? :P

Yeah, I called the number on that page. I asked if they had an estimate of when they would be back online. They said No. I asked if there was any other way to register through their system and they said No I have to wait.

Just for the record I'm not really letting this stop me from applying for my tech jobs and such. And if they do ask for proof I do have the papers that the testing site gave me.

But I still am not officially certified through their organization until they get this website back up and I do not receive my certificate until this happens as well.

So if my future employer really wanted to check with Comptia to verify that I am certified they would not have any record of me. That is what bothers me.

How forward thinking of them to not issue any written documents, diplomas or certificates you could show future employers. You know, in case of something like this happening.

I am taking this class at my school so far so good :D Good luck with getting that cert paper.

Just an update. The site is STILL DOWN.

But I have met with a local computer services company and I am expecting a call this week to hopefully tell me I got the job.

I will be very happy if I get this job and have a good salary coming to me.
