I got a new external HDD

My mom wanted one, so I offered her mine. She gave me 50 bucks for it (lol) and I used that + some of my own money to get a WD 1Tb External HDD. It's pretty awesome. Actual storage size is 930Gb, which is HUEG compared to my old 250Gb HDD. Not only that, but it's smaller than my old one, it's super quiet, and it's not bright. My old one (Maxtor One-Touch 250Gb) was pretty big, it was loud as hell, and it had a huge blinding fog light that kept me up at night. Transfer speed on this new one isn't the best, but still, can't complain. i got it for 120 bucks because it was on sale at Staples. Plus, my mom payed for those 50 bucks, so I guess that makes it 80 bucks. Now I won't have to delete anything anymore :D

I'll take pics later

its not that expensive. you can get 300-500gb ranging from 80-120. it's worth it

I got a 640GB one for only $65. It was on sale at my local computer store. It was a Western Digital Sata II. I think... but all I know is that it was a Western Digital one xDD

Prices are certainly going down, there's a deal going on right now for a 1TB Fantom HDD for $51 (after rebate with eBillme) at Zipzoomfly. I'm thinking of buying one, but I really have no need for it.

...Am I the only one who noticed this?

I knew someone would pick that up. I added tax. (I ended up paying 70 out of my own pocket + tax = around 80)

I'm not american. Its expensive.
Even if they had the same price, I don't think its wise to spend $80 on something you don't really need.

I got one of those. Serving me brilliantly right now, and very quiet too.
If I ever need more space I'll get one of those.

No! It is you who doesn't watch enough!

you dont have to be american to buy a HDD. if you live out of the US, you can just import one. it shouldnt cost as much as it does in your country.

Which sort of defeats the purpose of importing, don't you agree?

no. the way you said it, its like you must be "american" to get HDD for cheap and im saying you dont have to be american. you can be asian, african, hispanic, etc and still get it for cheap. now if you live in another country like europe, australia, etc. then it may not be cheap for you but you can always import a HDD from america which shouldnt cost as much as if you were to buy one in your country.

i just got a 500gb yesterday and ive already got it down to 374gb free and im not done backing up all the crap off my old 200gb internal on my old pc thats been waiting to be backed up. so by tomorrow itll be all but full....maybe ~100 gb's free.

I recently had an old external 160GB WD My Book fail on me. I used to keep all my Music and pr0n on it, but I had to move that over to my 320GB C: drive.

Been looking to get a new HD.
But havin' trouble deciding to get a 1TB internal or external. hmr.

External all the way man. You can just hook it up to your Wii and use it to load your Wii ISO's and you can use it as a media center too!
I use it all the time to watch my series and movies!

Well, I was thinkin about doing that whole Wii External HD USB loader a while back, but I've gotten rather fond of just using DVDs. (I think I may be the only person who prefers playing games of discs these days). Although that Media Center idea is tempting.

But right now I'm looking for an HD to sit next to, or inside my PC at all times.

I never did notice how quiet it was. That is so awesome ^^. I shoulda bought another one... Bleh. Time to wait for the next HDD sale. I have a 40GB, and will scrap that later... Once I get a new one. It would be nice to get a matching 640GB for this one. So I could RAID it. Imagine all that space... What to do with it...
