[UNPOPULAR OPINION] Just beat Mario Galaxy.

It is my least favorite Mario game. It doesn't feel like it's a 2D game, and it also doesn't feel like a 3D game. I honestly had more fun playing the original Mario on a calculator in math class.

I never could beat Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - the damn motion controls made six Stars practically impossible to get, the low HP was a major nuisance, the Spring Shroom shouldn't exist, I kept falling into biscuit holes in the dessert galaxy...one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune to play.

A couple years later I got 64 DS, 3D Land, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 (at different times, of course), and I loved those. Those do Mario platforming really well, and have few if any annoyances or awful Stars/flagpoles.

I played Mario Galaxy for a little bit. I didn't have any complaints I'm not a fan of the motion controls but play Mario 3D World that is way better.

@leon315 It's a TI-Nspire CAS. There's a big homebrew community around it that is constantly developing neat stuff.

I once spent the majority of my physics course playing Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages on my calculator. I failed the course, but hey, I beat the game! (I did eventually retake the course and pass it, fret not!)

I liked Galaxy, you're right it's not the same as a proper 3D mario, because the levels are made of many small and largely "flat" sections (flat but wrapped around a geometric shape) but there is a huge variety of levels, many more than SM64, Sunshine or Odyssey, including some really tough challenges, and I like that. Galaxy 2 is way better though, no doubt. I felt like more of the levels in Galaxy 2 resembled standard 3D Mario levels a la SM64 and there were more of them.

I am excited to play Galaxy 2. It seems to be more consistent, but I don't own a copy  I will get one someday lol

Different people, different opinions. Why care if your opinion is popular? You didn't like the game – fine. I like it.

My only complaint on Super Mario Galaxy 1 is the virtually non-existent difficulty. The only things mildly challenging are the one-hit-death stars and these are mostly just replaying bosses. The second game improved a little on this and has some ideas demanding a bit more skill.
