Why are Americans so freaking sensitive

*Disclaimer* if you get offended by anything I say, that is not my attention however, you'll be proving my point.

I've been thinking lately (a dangerous pastime I know) but I've noticed that Americans are extremely sensitive. What ever happened to "suck it up" or "get over yourself"? For example I have said that I do not agree with homosexuality but I still am friends with and love homosexual people despite me not agreeing with this lifestyle, of course I was still called homophobic and got a lot of hate by some pansies who couldn't respect other people's thoughts. Another example is the is viewpoints on celebrities and the like. I've noticed people being unnecessarily bashed for not liking a generally liked person or vice versa. The most extreme example is something I saw today. There was a video of a photographer being observed by a young elk. It showed mildly hostile behavior as it would bend it's head down and buck the man who was sitting on the ground. He stayed down so he wouldn't upset the elk and he got away unharmed. The elk was later put down for "repeated aggressive behavior". At least 80% of the comments said that the man had performed animal abuse because the elk was put down even though he did absolutely nothing to harm it. People went as far as to say that the man should have been put down. This begs the question. What causes us Americans to be so easily offended and hate others just because they differ in opinion? What do you guys think?

I don't think there's anything to agree about homosexuality - they're going to be homosexuals whether you like it or not.

@Lilith Valentine I mean, it's the same thing in every country. I've noticed this back in India, I notice it here, and if you go to other places like Britain, France, Russia, China, etc., you'll notice it there as well. All countries are like this, the US isn't an exception. It's good to think critically and retrospectively. And, well, yeah, you're lucky to have been born here and not in, say, some part of Asia, because it's objectively better here :P

@HaloEliteLegend I disagree, India is objectively better, look how happy this guy looks.
This is the tech support i've scammed someone happy dance.

SOME people have been acustomed to being special, and when people prove them wrong or disagree, they tend to lash out in response. America is in a social climate shift and it will eventually pass just as all social trends tend to. In my opinion, your generalization of "Americans" is something to rethink. Not all American people think alike and there is a multitude of responses for all social issues. If I could pass on anything to those that come after me, it would be to always be critical of every side and try to adopt a multitude of ideologies. Honestly, I think a majority of these hypersensitive people are the result of highly sectionalized ideologies. People need to open up a dialogue and try to find solutions.

@Minox Hello friend nice day to be offended.
You my daddy.

@chaz He does seem like a special snowflake doesn't he. "You Americans" making himself separate clearly says it all about him. This thread seems more like an ego booster for him and not an actual question.

Its the same ol same ol. I sometimes get tired of these arguments and such. Its the same thing over and over again.

Well to take his question seriously I think its virtue signaling. They just want to show the world how such good people they are. And over exaggerate how offended they are. This fake outrage, not done at normal levels, to try to impress their friends of their "morality." Journalist do this too, they write "moral outrage" articles for the purpose of trying to impress their journalist buddies.

It's natural to offend own states, territories. I don't see anything bad in being sesitive, it's worse to say I don't care.

@HaloEliteLegend
I think it’s the level of unhinged I deal with. I don’t deal with nearly as high an unhinged level with people from other countries (both irl and online,) compared to what I do with just people irl. Now I work retail and a couple of miles from an international airport, so I deal with people from quite a number of places. A good chunk of the people I deal with from other countries are super polite people. Compared to the Americans I deal with. To them, if the thought of a Uncle Sam, Jesus, and the Statue of Liberty having a threesome doesn’t make you fiddle yourself. Well then you might as well get out of America.
But I guess this could just be an example of being exposer. I am at the mercy of the community, thus what I see is what I get. I guess I just happen to get lucky with some and unlucky with others. That being said, a lot of what I get from people is on the Temp. So congrats, the Temp is no where near as unhinged as people I deal with irl.

I have observed something, humans are sensitive I mean every human I have encountered just brags about their ideology and group being only right whilst factually it is all just opinions.

We have religious people, who throughout history are a reason of wars, and most of the crimes committed were by these guys. Then we have political Ideology believers who will go racket on each other. Humans are Soo into their own opinion they even go into minute details like the genes that determine when a chemical is released that compels them to breed. Even important figures such as a president will start to rant when an athlete don't stand up to a man made patterns of sound wave.

Beung a Fly man and observing difference from my people I see humans as more intelligent but for doing dumb things such as ranting.

Well speaking as a gay person who was born in America... I do think there is a small vocal minority of those types of people on BOTH sides...and I HEAVILY disdain people who fail to realize that. America is no different that any other country I've been to except of course certain things. And um its like that in every country. If you think China, Russia, or even Japan (they will just be disgusted at you secretly) will all act the same.Everyone gets irritated or offended when people disagree with certain parts of their opinions. But speaking to the people who believe the whole bible...(as a former Roman Catholic) FUN fact...the bible actually contradicts itself...so okay...but moving on...I don't understand equating gay sex to like murder and rape though that completely confuses me. But hey you have your opinion. It's like my grandmother who always said the Jews and the Protestants (Mormons too)were sinners and wouldn't be able to enter the Kingdom of God if they didn't change their ways (but she always did her best to get them into heaven).

If you think Americans are sensitive, you have never seen europe.
Some people here are way too sensitive.

When someone tries to defend their pride in an argument that doesn't matter theyre the one at fault for throwing more gas into the flames. Just move on and forget about what happened.

@kuwanger I struggle getting through the bible but one thing I've learned from reading any scripture is that if you don't have an honest intent (such as wanting to find answers to a religious question, like how can I overcome my addiction to _____) and go in with a prayer, you don't get much out of it. And you're right. One text alone cannot convey all plain and precious truths. That is why I read multiple books of scripture.

Because we have become a nation of entitled spoiled brats. I thank Obama and all these so called celebrities and millennials for that garbage.

It’s great for me though, now I can offend EVERYONE and not even have to try....

Speaking of PLaystation. I see Evilnat put out a beta for PS3 CFW 4.91.2 on the 22nd.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Don't really see the point in updating it tbh
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right, I thought about updating my PS3 CFW to 4.91, but why really, everything plays fine now. I guess for people that have already updated past 4.9 it would be helpful.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Thats true, personally I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I play most games that are on both PS3/360 strickly on the 360, but PS3 exclusives are really only games I play on the PS3 (You know me, I'm more of a Xbox junkie)
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Ps3 really has no titles worth going online over nps is the only reason you'd want wifi
