I don't think that they have the right to tell you that unless they have some kind of school policy.

Blur the faces and then re-upload it to an account that has no ties to you.

Tell them to prove that you took the video.

There probably isn't much you can do unless you are willing to take whatever school punishment they give you if you do not comply.

Schools have the stupidest rules with this kind of shit but if you were feeling feisty you could probably fight it. It would be a large waste of time and money though.

I still think that they really can not tell you to take it down, legally.

... or just take it down and let it go. You aren't in the wrong, but in life we have to choose our battles. Do you really want to make a stand for this? Is this the principal moment, that you would gladly have yourself defined by?

Sounds fishy. I doubt your principal coincidentally stumbled upon your video and recognized the two of you.
If you want our opinion, how about telling us the whole story first?
The only plausible explanation that comes to my mind is that your 'friend' himself complained about the video. Why else would they want you to take it off?

Anyway, they can't legally force you to take off the video, and they're not legally allowed to punish you for not complying, either. Which doesn't mean they won't, though. If they need a reason to punish you, they'll invent one.

Just take down the vid, and next time something like that happens, claim it wasn't you who shot and/or uploaded the video. It's generally a bad idea to let your superiors know your username on *any* website. Even though it's your right to publish messages like "My boss is a huge cocksucker" as long as you're not mentioning any names, that doesn't mean your boss won't hate you for it and treat you accordingly. Same goes for teachers and principals.
