So, my wonderfully old DS Phat is really starting to feel its old age coming up to it.
It's had a broken hinge for a few years now, and I've left it like that since the day it broke.
WELL! I think it's time for me to replace the housing of it!
It's taken time, but I finally did find some videos showing how to replace the housing. It also went on to show where I can add LED lights for... well, added awesomeness.
Some clicking around on YouTube led to this:

Which ultimately also led to this blog on GBAtemp:

Which has led me to want to do the following on my Phat DS (hopefully):
- Case replacement to black (It was never available in Europe, meaning that if I ever need to part with my lifelong electronic companion, I'll be able to milk some cash.) Ordered this with a triwing today, hopefully it drops in the mail in less than 3 weeks (last time, it took over a month...)
- A decal sticker in a similar fashion to the one Ravippe did in his blogs. I'm rounding it down to the TTGL logo or a Hyrule Crest like Ravippe did. This would either be done by printing decal stickers at a local shop, printing my own at school with some durable decal paper, or ordering the same vinyl paper with the batshit insane shipping that Ravippe did, and having someone cut it out for me (I can't cut very straight).
In addition to these, I also found this thing that's called "metallkartong" in swedish, that I may possibly use with some adhesive tape or glue to keep attached. May need to check durability on this.
- Although optional, I'd like to place some LED's where the decal will be place (just about where Ravippe placed his), that would turn on when the DS is turned on. I am well aware that LED's will shorten the battery life by 15-30 mins, but because of me not using my NDS for a little short of 5 years (2004-2009), the battery's done remarkably well and holds a good charge. I'd need some motherboard diagrams for this, though, since I can't seem to find any with Google, and I'm not gonna go around with a solder iron for nothing.
Any thoughts on this whole deal? Too much, too little? Too difficult?
Toodles,
Ace~
