Because parents don't want to pay attention to what their kids are doing with the tablet or smart phone that they gave them.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
"So tell me that your son doesn't know any cuss words
When his bus driver's screamin' at him, fuckin' him up worse (Go sit the fuck down, you little fucking prick!)"
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
The older kids get, the more they swear, regardless. Once you're in middle school, especially.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Eh I'd rather kids mess up in high school like a cop told me once almost old enough for big jail
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
The middle school social playground is the gateway to all sorts of new and exciting language.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
I see what you mean. Mess up early so that you can learn hard lessons early?
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
I was a little rebel thief in my younger days but $500 fines and jail isn't worth it over a $50 item
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
Thankfully, I don't think I ever messed up on anything major in life. Started working at 18, with only one large, 2-month gap of unemployment. Never did (hard) drugs, and even my "party phase" was short-lived. Just wasn't it for me. I would often just rather come home from work and play games or watch dumb shit on TV.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Funny how some people don't even shape up until late 20s almost everyone in my family has some type of court record lol
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
In school, though, I was getting Cs, Ds and Fs.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
    High school, that is.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Education system is flawed you can still have a decent life without it
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
That was out of pure laziness, though. Took school more seriously when I was in college.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
    True.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
Honestly, more people should try getting into utility work, anyway. The U.S. could use more plumbers and electricians.
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
I love that AI companies are managing to remove humans from the equation. For example, they're planning to add AI to Chrome, or in other words literally command your life, and spy on kids in the NYC DOE
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
We keep talking about our crumbling infrastructure, yet we keep telling kids to go to college to get high-paying jobs.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
Instead, we should be promoting choices and bolstering apprenticeship programs.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Ai won't be the end all of humanity every workplace will have a need for humans
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
it can also fill out forms and make YouTube comments and crap. Pretty much, literally removing the human part of "browsing" the web.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
I wish schools would teach kids business practices at a early age instead of every basic thing things they'll actually need in life that's always my gripe with public schools
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
Not only that, but AI-written articles and pages on websites.
  • Delerious @ Delerious:
    The internet is slowly
losing everything that once made it great.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
I feel like the internet is still huge but platforms make it feel small
