bad quality headset .__.

the creative fatal1ty mkii .

the second version of the creative fatal1ty headset .
at first , i was impressed . "finally a headset . on sale for $50 only when original is $70."
i decide to buy it , and use it to listen to my music on my zune .
good quality for me , but never tested the mic yet .
i go on skype , and tell my friends about it .
they create their own skypes and we start using it for communication over the summer break .

i myself, never noticed what they were saying .
they were telling me on how i had some weird "farting" noise while i used my mic .
i never understood it because i never heard myself talk .
so now today , i finally test it out .
i go to skype, and talk to echo123 . i hear myself, and i hear this static noise background .
extremely annoying to those who are talking to me as that they will be hearing that noise constantly .
i don't know if it was my fault or manufactures fault . i doubt the warranty even lasts more than 30 days,
so there's no point in trying to return it / exchange it / replace it .

any suggestions when it comes to a headset that has good quality and comfort?
only requirements is that it's not USB so that i could use it with my xbox one day and is comfortable for long use .
even so , if it is USB , i won't mind since i doubt i will ever get to the point when i would actually buy a dedicated soundcard .

pricing, $80 $60 max in CAD .

Here is the one I use. I once saw an adapter that made it possible to plug into my PC. They are AWESOME for playing on the Xbawks. Just to be clear, I am not even sure you need an adapter to plug it into your PC. It has a standard jack (green), and a microphone jack (red).

I got my headset bundled with assassin's creed for PC used for 15 bucks at my local eb games. It's a Sennheiser and it's great, and I was super lucky to get it for 15 bucks with a game :P

I've heard good things about the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB and the Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000. They're both USB headsets but the quality is apparently pretty high (plus the USB mic wouldn't be affected by any analogue noise/interference like the pink microphone jack would). You wouldn't be able to use them to listen to music on your Zune though (I don't know why you would use a headset for that instead of just regular headphones/earphones though).

I think you can get either for about $30.

edit:

Logitech Clearchat Comfort USB $45 CAD

Has a review that states it isn't very comfortable, according to a person I know who has one it's pretty damn comfortable though.

Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 $30 CAD

Some reviews about the build quality, I don't know anybody who owns one personally so I can't really comment on that.

edit 2: just noticed you said no USB due to your XBAWKS, but you should probably consider it anyway if you're mainly planning to use it on the PC because the quality is much better and you don't have to worry about having a shitty soundcard.

Sennheiser headsets are very good for what they cost. They aren't super expensive either, and are very comfy. Has a headset + headphone jack though, so need an adapter to play use with a 360 controller and such.
Turtle Beach is great quality too.

Either would be good purchases.

i've seen those converters for 3.5mm -> xbox adapters . that's why i thought, okay sure, multi use headset . now i just realized how useless that'd be . i am not that sort of gamer for xbox, to have a headset plugged in to hear everything . so instead, i will just invest on a headset designed for the PC so USB is now ok .

hmm... now that i've reduced that need for stereo, i am gonna reconsider the pricing .
max w/o tax : $60CAD . either way , i will look into your recommendations and see which one i prefer !

EDIT: quickie . tested another headset [Plantronics Gamecom 367] yet i received that same interference noise in the background .
what could possibly be the problem ...? maybe faulty mic jack ? i use the one in the front of the computer .

Try using the one in the back of the computer (assuming there is one).
edit: If your computer is a desktop system the one in the back of the computer is probably fixed to the motherboard. If you have the same issue with that jack the problem is most likely the motherboard's sound chipset itself and you should consider using a USB adapter, at least for your mic input.

I have that problem on my desktop machine, because there is a slight problem with the wiring for the mic jack in the case (I know that it is correctly connected to the motherboard because I built the computer).

What sucks is when you have a problem like that on a laptop and your only alternative is a USB headset or USB sound adapter for your ministereo-jack headset.

I also have a Creative Fatal1ty headset (original version though) that I got on black friday for US$20. I'd actually wanted an MKII, but it wasn't a planned purchase, and at that price, my qualms about the design didn't matter because I can just replace it when the velveteen earphones start to be caked with skin cells.

The mic isn't as loud as my previous USB Microsoft Lifechat headset but I was able to tweak the mic settings to get it to sound just as good.
