Well, I just came back from my trip to Seattle.
Day zero: Wednessday, March 31st.
Went to school, went to this Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans and ate some fancy food. I went to the library to study, then studied a bit. I went to work, then I found out that my copy of Resonance of Fate arrived. Excellent. Tried playing it for 30 minutes, and while it was fun, for the love of god I could not figure out how to do the tri-attack. Everything else by that point was fine, BUT COULDN'T DO THE TRI-ATTACK. I just went to sleep, since it was getting too late.
Day one: Thursday, April 1st.
5:00 - 10:00:
So, today was the day I left. I woke up at 5, got prepared and after a friend of mine arrived, we instantly left the house to get to the greyhound station in Vancouver. We were 2 hours early. Since there was a convention the very day after, my brother thought it'd be a good idea to come earlier. We just bought some subs from Subway, and just played around with some DS games. The approximate arrival time in Seattle was 3 a'clock.
10:00 - 12:00
2 hours passed pretty quickly, we got onto the bus. The only seats left were the ones in the front, so we all sat down at the front. I had some conversation with our roommate, and everything was fine and dandy. Until the nerds in the back started singing. My god, I thought I knew what nerds were, but today, everything was shattered. They were loud, and started talking about Pokemon, Yugioh (No comment about lolkiddyanimeIamold) and how they have all these dvds of it. These people looked horribly fat, or horribly unpleasant to talk to. I just ignored them as much as possible, and just slept. It also wasn't easy, because they were listening to generic moe kawaii jpop at a high volume. People around them seemed to just learn how to ignore them. By this point, I didn't eat lunch.
12:00 - 12:30
Time passed by pretty quickly on the bus. Once we got to the border, all the cars in the area just seemed to have stopped. Nobody knew what was going on. About 30 minutes of standing still, we finally got into the checking area.
12:30 - 3:00
What's this? It's.... empty? There was nobody in there, except this one man, who came out and told us that "People are off from their shifts". Ok, it probably wouldn't be too long of a wait...
Exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes later, the people taking over the shift came in, and started asking questions. All the people were done with the X-ray of baggage in less than 30 minutes. This should've happened 2 hours ago, for god's sake. Whatever, at least we can finally leave.
3:00 - 5:30
During the ride, there was NOTHING to look at. It was all generic forests and resting areas.
Well, we finally got here. 2 hours late. We just grabbed out stuff, and went directly to our hotel. It was about a 15 minute walk. Could've called a taxi, but it would've been cheaper this way.
5:30 - 6:00
Got our hotel cards. The elevators were ridiculously fast. It took us up 22 floors in less than 30 seconds. In Canada, it takes almost triple the time.
Our room was very nice though. There was your standard 2 bed room with a coffee brewer, a nice large desk and an HD TV. What's this? Where's the fridge....? Oh boy, this sure isn't going to be pretty. Speaking of things being pretty, the view up the 22nd floor was great. Too bad the weather wasn't so great. The room was very nice, mainly because of the channels, view, viewing HD stuff, and yeah. Wifi, on the otherhand, was 10 bucks per day. Not going to pay.
6:00 - 7:30
We left pretty quickly to pick up our Sakura Con badges. Since we pre-purchased our badges, we just needed to pick it up.
While I was walking, I noticed something. Almost all the cosplayers were... displeasing to the eye. I don't have high standards to begin with, but some of the work put into the costume is extremely low. I found less than 5% of the people I saw that day attractive. Physically, and costume were both not so great.
Shortly after, I ate some tacos, but decided to go to the restaurant, back at the hotel. While my brother (Shawn) and the roommate (Nicknamed 'Lala') were looking around, my friend (Winfrey) and I went back. It was 7 by now but there weren't too many customers inside.
We were greeted by a waiter named John. Quite tall, in his late 50s, and something was very interesting about him. He was a hilarious guy to talk to, and he certainly knew how to take care of the customers, yup.
We both ordered these teriyaki burgers with onion rings. 10 bucks, but I'm quite sure it'll be worth it. The food came about 15 minutes later. Pretty late, but at least we could tell that it wasn't pre-made or whatnot.
7:30 - 8:00
Yeah, it was definitely worth it. These burgers were massive. Fucking lettuce, two slices of tomatoes, fistful of onions, 1/4th of an actual pickle, light mayo, teriyaki sauce, ham, and of course, the burger patty. The onion rings were also bigger than my fists. Best fucking tasting burger I've had in a long time. The waiter guy came back, and asked "So, how's my Canadian cousins doing, eh?" We laughed, and we left a 3 dollar tip each. Great food, topped with a top tier waiter.
8:00 - 9:00
Well, I saw that Lala and Shawn were back. Winfrey and I told them how amazing it was, so we decided to go tomorrow. During this time, we all cleaned ourselves, and tried to find a grocery shop. From the 22nd floor, we found one instantly. Shawn and Lala went to the shop to buy some food for themselves. They came back with a hefty amount of cup noodles, fruits, 4 Litre (Forgot how the Americans measured it) of water, and instant oatmeals. All for less than 10 dollars. Great prices are great.
9:00 - 12:00
I started reading a book from school, Winfrey was playing his DS, Lala was fixing her dress or something, and Shawn was watching Adult swim. Adult swim was pretty weird, except ATHF. Kinda made me wonder how these shows can even be on air.
By 12, I was tired. We went to sleep.
