Apologies and warnings

Greetings my fine furred guinea pig followers !

First I want to give a quick apology for my post in the Horizon Zero Dawn thread yesterday and while i don't regret the meaning of my words it could have been put a little bit more eloquently. I was very much stressing about the small operation that i went through today. Which brings me on to the warnings.

So today underwent a nerve block delivered by a guided injection into my nerves in my neck and the space where the disc lays. I actually had one of these along long time ago now or so it seems atleast and completely forgot what it was like. Initially once the right nerve had been find (and the needle was still in there it felt like the hole upper left side of my back and shoulder and throbbing and on fire, not just on fire but it felt like it was a supernova exploding there. Once the agents were injected it soon calmed down and my arm turned to ice and was pretty much numb for the next 8 hours. Trying to use my left arm was pretty much like playing surgery simulator I just had the broad strokes of moment and my arm felt lighter that it actually was so fun was had by all ... specially trying to pick up my ticket on the bus ... i missed twice ... but for now at least that has faded and has been replaced by the mother of all headaches.

This is probably going to be cycling for the next couple of weeks while my body adjusts to the nerve block, So I am probably going to be just slightly more grumpy and antagonistic but I will do my best to try and keep this to an absolute minimum.

But it is a bit of a relief to not have them all at once ... altho the numbness has been quite a while now as i found a moderate dose of Naproxen seemed to keep it at bay.

Anyway if you have any questions or comments as usual i will do my best to try and answer them

Next blog I'm kinda torn on what do do ... I'm tempted to finish the birth of the Amiga or do something about an old UK children's TV show or maybe it will just be something completely different

The most interesting parts of the Amiga saga is the end and the beginning the middle is compromise after compromise after compromise.

After the 500 commodore got too involved and wanted things too much their way the 500 + and 600 were while not bad were not what people wanted - the 600 suffered from poor design ultimately and while still more than usable. When you know what should have been the 1200 was a joke too, the AAA chipset would have been game changing at the time and possibly would have rewritten the evolution of PC's and gaming, but sadly it wasn't to be, Commodore just did not have the finances to wait so they released a cut down version known as the AGA chipset which while not game changing was still pretty amazing at the time but not in the way AAA would have done.

Again this is only part of the story, i really can't comment on the Higher end machines ( 1000, 1500,2000,2500,3000 and 4000) as i've never really sat down and used one. I have attempted to use Amiga OS 4.1 Final just can't get on with it at all

If any thing of that doesn't make sense ... im i have a massive headache right now but im also pretty hyper ... just another one of the side effects i'll live with for the next couple of weeks haha

@RyuShinobi500 and @IncredulousP thank you very much.

As far as things going on with the amiga right now ... not a whole lot is gonna happen until summer now. I really would love to get video out of this and start uploading amiga stuff playthroughs and reviews and such but i can't seem to get my hands on a reliable upscaler

What about a piece on one of the Amiga,s best games. A game pretty much nobody has any knowledge of but has a pretty interesting history. The game I am talking about is The Adventures of Quik & Silva. The game was awarded a review score of 5 out of 5 by Amiga Power and other magazines also scored it highly as well. Oh and the game was developed by New Bits on the Ram (Better known as Factor 5) New bits was somewhat of a scam company for reasons I wont go into here just incase you go ahead and do a blog about them lol. Lets just say it massively benefited Factor 5 by not releasing the game using the Factor 5 name.

For instance the game is the first home video game to have Sonic the Hedgehog in it. Yes this game came out 6 weeks before Sonic the Hedgehog was realesed on the Genesis/Megadrive.

Its also the first time Mario and Sonic both appeared in a game together.

It also has characters from numerous other games in it including.

Bubble Bobble
Nebulus
R-Type
Turrican
Great Gianna Sisters and many more.

Also the game was made in under 2 weeks by only 3 people which is surprising when you see the review scores it then got.

Ahhh yes Quik and Silva - ill forgive the typo this time but yeah it was a hodgepodge of IP infringement haha - Pretty sure the only reason they got away with it was because it was released as a cover disk for a magazine haha

Games are on the list already (complete with game play videos), I was going to split it up in to 3 parts, System Exclusive, Multi-system and then a section on some public domain stuff. The PD stuff will be more of a mixed bag of best/worst :D

Been a small update to the amiga setup over the last week as i have managed to acquire the mighty zipstick ...

Haha was only joking about the typo haha the amount of places online (and back in the day) that had it listed as quick and silva (or quik and sliver) is silly enough to negate the typo haha

I still have no idea how they got away with mercury switches even back i the 80's lol - although as long as your not twatting it off the walls and desk its still pretty safe ... unlike what most youtubers would have you believe :rofl2:

Mercury switches should be perfectly safe, as long as no kid rages and breaks the controller in half... Fluorescent bulbs contain mercury to this day, but in small enough amounts to be harmless. If the controller is well designed there shouldn't be enough mercury to harm you unless you somehow ingested it. Mercury is far less harmful in contact with skin. Elemental mercury is apparently more easily absorbed through the skin, but that isn't used in products I think?

Also, I've heard of that game somewhere (Quik and Silva), but I can't remember where. Great music though.

I've used mercury switches quite a lot in a few projects where an accelerometer would have just been over kill and completely agree with you they are perfectly safe. You only have to casually mention mercury to a lot of people these days and they start to panic and think they are infected :/
