Another year, another blog entry

Yo, shout out to myself earlier in the year saying I would probably be looking at my last blog later on in the future and be writing a new one because it was totally right. I'm gunna just write another little blog about my life again, read it or not, I'm down with either or yo.

Hmm, lets pick up from January where I left off.
For the most part the majority of the winter was meh but I guess some cool things did happen.

MUSIC LIFE:
I finished up a band's promo EP in February, it came out pretty good but the quality could've been way better. However, in August we started recording the full length album and its sounding pretty rad so far! Its all mixed and it literally just needs vocals then its good to go!

I worked a hella ton on xSPONGEXCOREx throughout the year, I released another (and probably the most publicized) EP in March entitled, Bold And Thrash. It was everywhere when it first came out, Alternative Press, MetalInjection, MetalSucks, it was awesome! It spawned another pretty popular track called "Look At It" which was one of the firsts I wrote for the EP. I made a batch of 100 physical copies of the EP and sold em for 6 bucks a piece with all the profit going to charity once more.

Honestly, its one of the most beautiful feelings in the world to give back. In April, a month after Bold And Thrash was released I ran an IndieGoGo campaign to get a compilation of all the music made onto every major physical format. CD, Vinyl, and Cassette! Needless to say, the campaign was fully funded in 6 hours. I asked for $3000 to get everything produced and by the end of the campaign I got a little bit over $4700 which was absolutely mindblowing! So throughout the summer I packed everything up and shipped it all out as it came in and just like before donated the rest of the profit to charity, as of today (12/19/2015) I've been able to donate ~$3100 to various charities and have sold over 1100 pieces of merchandise all around the world thanks to this project, its still surreal to be able to say that! During the summer I also released another track (which is my personal favorite) called At Night which was taken positively by fans of the project which is awesome, I also released another two track single in October called Fancy Talk. Not as popular as the other releases as my imagination and popularity of the project is starting to dissipate. 25 tracks is a lot to make in just a little over a year man xD

Back up a little bit into the beginning of the year, I joined a hardcore punk band called Open Casket Division. It's honestly a ton of fun to play, its just fast, aggressive, and a blast! I enjoy it a bunch, we've played two shows so far, in August we opened for Shai Hulud which are hardcore veterans then in October we got to open up for The Misfits and that was amazing! That's another one thats still surreal to say and talk about as well! The turnout for us wasn't too shabby, not as big as the show got by the time The Misfits we're on but we got tons of positive feedback from the people who saw us, sold a bunch of CD's and people even wanted us to sign them. It was a truly great experience! Tomorrow we will be playing a house show which will definitely be an interesting time to say the least!

GENERAL LIFE:
Life in itself has been interesting this past year. I'm in a constant battle with myself recently to figure out some sort of stable career and keep the passion for music and creativity going but honestly its hard. Really hard. Last year, this feeling was just brewing a little bit and now its in full swing and its honestly a truly terrible feeling. I wound up leaving my job at the restaurant I was working at for a job in the healthcare field to try to get into the feel of a "big boy" job where I have health benefits and retirement benefits and such which is definitely nice. But, I still don't know yet if the decision was good or bad as I've only been there for 4 months. Right now, I know I definitely don't enjoy it much, I work alone and I wind up just isolating myself a lot because of it which is definitely a change I don't like. At my last job I was extremely social almost all the time and never home, now I'm home like 80% of the time on my days off and that's no bueno. I met so many amazing and beautiful individuals at my old job whom a lot became actual friends instead of just coworker friends who you forget about when you leave. It was just the actual work that was terrible, it was extremely physically and mentally stressful to the point where I just couldn't take it anymore but now my new job rarely has any sort of stimulation mentally or physically lol. I'm constantly in search of the perfect job man, it would be super rad if it ever happens someday.

BUT enough with the bleh talk for now, I definitely did some pretty rad things this year! I did travel like I said I would like to do in the last blog post so that was definitely rad. I went on some hikes, went around to just different places that are around my area, and I went to Maryland Deathfest for the fourth year in the row in Baltimore as well as Riot Fest in Chicago! Both were absolutely fantastic, such amazing times! Riot Fest was by far the biggest festival I've ever been to, so many people and so many bands it was beautiful and I'm already planning on going back next year without a doubt.

I also got me a new car! A 2009 Mazda 6 with only 26,000 miles on it (it beats the hell out of my rusting 2000 Jeep Cherokee with 206,000 miles) but that's where things have been starting to change in life. I'm still doing 30 hours a week for the most part and working on music much like I have been for the past couple years but "adulting" is starting to hit me super hard within the past couple months, paying a car bill, insurance, phone, rent (even though my parents don't charge me much) I also plan on moving out of my parents in the spring with my brother finally at the age of 23, its wild. I'm not sure if I'm ready for all the changes that keep on happening and will be happening within the next year but hey, thats life right? Gotta keep rollin' with the punches and just keep on keeping on. I seemed to have a lot of my life planned out for myself this year, a lot of it worked out and a lot of it also did not. Next year, I'm going into it all completely blindfolded which is scary but hopefully my next blog post (whenever that might be) will be an interesting time <3

Shout out to you if you read this all, thank you for reading some random guy blabbering about his life on the Internet. You're bae a f <3

I love reading about your endeavors! I still hope someday to meet you. I listen to all of sponge core and I love all of it. I'm always checking Facebook to see what you are up to and am always jealous of the beautiful people you meet. I'm watching daily here at gbatemp, watching the "members you follow" looking for your avatar. I'm glad things are going well. Good luck finding a big boy job. It's hard, I know.
