Soooo time for another blog, and this will be all the links I can think of (that won't get me notified of a violation of site guidlines).
Aaaaaaand considering this quote from the blog guidelines "anything illegal within the blogs will not be tolerated" you are simply out of luck if you want to know where I get my porn, no cd cracks, and cheap slave labour. Ok I don't really really have any cheap slaves, they're all rather expensive. Ok I don't really have any slaves, cheap or expensive
And while the services are technically legally above board (supposedly), I'm just not going to bother mentioning where I get my news indexing, news hosting, or roms and or other assorted torrent sources. Sadly that will include my anime fan subs, sorry your out of luck. Of course you can always ask me in private (but I still don't have any slaves).
Places I am not mentioning because if you've been under a rock I can't help you would include
MyTube, and YouSpace as well as FaceNovel. I don't think much of them anyway.
Ok where do I start.
AOL, never been there.
MSNmessenger, interestingly enough, I don't care if everyone likes it, I don't.
I prefer Yahoo. Well I used to. All through the 90s I was right bloody obsessed with ICQ, then around 1999 they got bought out, and it was totally ruined. I used to like randomly searching for chats, now it seems it's just a means to advertise porn.
You might like it, but I think it sucks. I say "used to" with Yahoo, because over the years the chatting interest has died. I have 4 people on my list now. One is a local, and the other 3 are long time international friends. Yahoo is really just long distance phone service to me now.
I don't even use Yahoo software any more. I use a popular program called Trillian. Super easy to use, well liked, unifies all your chat programs, doesn't require them to be installed on your system either. You just need your login name and password.
Trillan, found here for the lazy that won't google. http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/
Actually my Trillian is also not on my computer. I'm also not really using this web browser on my computer, it's on a Sandisk Micro Cruiser. Found here. http://www.sandisk.com/products/catalog(11...lash_drive.aspx
There's nothing magical about the device, it's just a 2 gig flash drive, and it allows me to run applications from it. Better on it than on my computer. As such I don't have a web browser installed, not IE and not anything else.
I do champion Firefox though. Found here. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?utm_...CFQWysgodzRWp4Q
I suppose someone might actually not know Firefox is better than IE. I've just never met one.
It's not perfect, it's just not Microsoft. Anything to avoid MS.
In the realm of computer sales I have no trouble buying from Futureshop. Found here. http://www.futureshop.ca/home.asp?logon=L&...test%5Fcookie=1
But I usually only buy spindles of blank media from them on sale.
For actual hardware sales, I prefer Canada Computers. Found here. http://www.canadacomputers.com/
Not likely worth much to you to know those two if you are not Canadian though.
But I am unlikely to buy from non Canadian sources much.
In gaming (yeah this is what you've been waiting for).
I first discovered forums with Matrix Games back in 2000 (when they were just a place to get Steel Panthers).
http://www.matrixgames.com/
Today they are about the biggest name in computer wargaming. If you don't know them, you are not actually playing many real computer wargames in all likelihood.
They support other companies, but I will list them separately.
http://www.slitherine.com/
http://www.ssg.com.au/
http://www.panthergames.com/
http://www.a-d-g.com.au/
http://www.2by3games.com/
http://www.advancedtactics.org/
And the industry also has these key names for wargamers.
http://schwerpunkt.wargamer.com/
http://www.hpssims.com/
http://www.shrapnelgames.com/
http://www.battlefront.com/
http://www.locknloadgame.com/
http://www.gmtgames.com/
http://www.multimanpublishing.com/index1.php
http://www.strategyfirst.com/en/
In less intense wargaming, and gaming in general there's these places.
http://www.wizards.com/
Through them you end up with these titles of note.
Axis and Allies (board games and minis)
Dungeons and Dragons (board games and minis)
Magic the Gathering (cards)
Risk variants (board games)
And that is the better part of my gaming haunts that market games.
There's also here
http://www.armchairgeneral.com/
http://www.gamesquad.com/
http://www.wargamer.com/
These are sites that don't publish wargames that know the wargaming universe top to bottom.
In other related and unrelated interests.
