2DS VOLUME IS FIXED (until it isn't)

Ok, screw the 3ds. That thing is beyond dead.
I figured "hey the 2ds has more problems, but they're WAY easier to fix, so that's my next target". But then I remembered oops, the 2ds ALSO has stripped screws for some god damn reason.
Idk what i did there but i sure didn't like it. To my surprise, all of the screws on the RIGHT side of the console, WEREN'T stripped! So, i got cookin' and i spent a literal hour trying to line up the plastic volume slider with the internal one WHILE ALSO holding up the 2ds shell so i can... yknow... do my job. Anyway, after so many tries, i got them lined up, screamed loud af, put the console back together and yeah, the volume slider isn't loose anymore and stays in place! THAT MEANS IT MUST BE FIXED, RIGHT???

i turned on the console and changine the slider didn't do shit.

i'm going to commit at least 3 war crimes rn

(on the bright side, that stinky ass object that was blocking the stylus holder is finaLLY OUT! I CAN PUT THE STYLUS IN THERE LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING NOW)
(btw, that object was a really, REALLY banged up version on the og 2ds stylus. I have no idea what happened there, and tbh, I really don't want to know.)

Hopefully you realize the notch on the internal slider can break off easily (guess why I know after opening a N2DSXL with utmost care).

The O2DS "doorstop" is the easiest of all DS to fix since it lacks a hinge/folding design. All those tricks to turn stripped screws never did anything for me. The only way to reliably get it is drilling off the screw heads, removing the back cover and then turn the rest of the screws with pliers.
New screws and you're set.

I said it to you before. You do not want to hear it. It has been years now. Just fix this thing already, please.

i give up i give up i give up i give up i give up i give up
THE I THE GIVE THE UP
f you nintendo and f you 12 year old jimmer who wasn't careful with his console you fucking idiot clumsy mf.

fff i should never have joined this forum, i caused only pain.
Also, I just did a little test where I DIDN'T put the plastic volume slider and tried changing it from the internal one and YEP you were right, the volume slider in general is busted AF.

WHY DON'T I JUST BUY A USED 3DS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD I MEAN, DAMN. (this time i will ask them 50000000 times if the system works correctly otherwise i'm not experiencing red 3ds 2: the big sequel.)

Edit: now that i realize it, it's my fault for even writing these blog posts, i'm only causing stress and annoyance. I would say sorry but you're probably sick of hearing it rn so, sorr-- FFFFFFFFF

The problem is not you joining the forum... or blogging. That's fine. My problem is that I just want this to be repaired and I f…ing can't reach through the internet cables.
By all your descriptions the problems seem fixable.

idk, from my pov, the screws are literal CIRCLES. The only choices i have are A. just buy a new one or B. TEAR THAT 3DS SHELL THE FUCK OFF, fix the things and buy a new shell afterwards ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: i just realized i never tried the superglue method, is it extremely powerful towards circle screws?

try adding some baking soda to the screw, push your screwdriver in to make an indent, then superglue. Will make the baking soda hard and you might have a usable head again.

What kind of idea is this? "Do not use pointless violence – get a BIGGER hammer" ???

My personal experience with all tricks for stripped screws is → Of no avail.
They might work better on big screws with enough surface to work with. Pouring superglue into such a small screw (hole) will make it overflow and probably just adhere the screw to the plastic.

then we're f'ed.
thx nintendo for such quality screws :)
you're really motivating your customers to actually fix their console and not send it to you out of desperation :)
also tri wing scews :)))))))))))))

edit: man don't you HATE when you're trying to do a classic : ) but then it turns it into an emoji?

Nintendo is completely against do-it-yourself repairs. The Triwing and inverse Torx screws are nothing but a "Keep Out!" sign (so-called security screws should be illegal costing the company a fee three times the selling price per sold unit!)

I've made my peace with the figures (especially for her → "🤦‍♀️" ← need the facepalming woman regularly).

If you want to use any of the strange symbol combinations representing faces, and they get interpreted as something else, put them in the plain environment.

Just typing :) → :)
