FFVII PS1 Burn Issue

08 February 2012 - 12:07 PM

Got a copy of disc 1, Its in .bin format which is fine i've dealt with it all before and usually know what i'm doing hahah

Anyway, my issue is that the ISO is 712mb but i'm sure that CD's are only 700mb? When I tried to burn it said there was only 702mb free space on the disc but needs 712 and I can't find any other solution to the problem because no one else seems to be asking XD

Maybe a bad ISO or something but it plays fine in WIISX (PS1 emulator for Wii) so I dunno :s

Also off topic, just got another PS1 off a friend after mine broke, the new one has composite out on the back and 'rfu dc out' too, I dont know what that is? I assune its for aerial or something haha its also got a parallel I/O port but I cant see what its use would be?

Mine was only ever AV multi out, serial I/O and AC IN hahaha very basic indeed!

Thanks guys :)

Custom Wii Paint Job

15 December 2011 - 12:20 AM

Ok, so after wiring the wii up to the car as many of you saw in the video i posted about a month ago, (see bottom of post i'll put it there again for those that never saw XD) AND making an arcade machine out of it (will also post that haha)

I began to play around again, deciding to paint it to match the interior of the car :) the theme is red and black, it has darkwii red theme installed so i get red and black as the wii menu too. It's a very simple effect and easy to do, but i haven't seen anyone post something like this before on GBAtemp, so hopefully it's a first too!

so here are the pictures of the progress :)

these pictures were a tester for the whole thing as the wii remote didn't work properly to begin with and certainly didn't work after painting! hahaha:

The controllers were white before the paint, but you all know what white ones look like, plus i never got any pictures before i started :P on this particular remote, the buttons were sticking because i had no patience, so when i put it back together the paint was not completely dry... when the paint dried the buttons were jammed :P but, learning from mistakes and trying again proved with patience it can be done well! haha

I ended up just masking off the disc drive and everything other part of the electronics as i couldnt be bothered to take them all off the shell haha but the impatience this time was fine, i waited for everything to dry overnight + a few more hours, put it back together and tested it. All works perfectly, the paint is superb, you cannot feel the black paint lines as there are a few layers of laquer to shiny it up!

As you'll see from the video i'm into modified cars, and the idea to make the paint like this was taken from a custom interior i had seen, though i'm not sure if they'd used this exact method. It was a fun little spare time thing to do :)

Here are the previous project videos i was talking about too for those of you that are interested...

Thanks to those that support some of these strange ideas that come up :)

P.S if a mod see's this can they either tell me how to re-format the post so that the pictures are side by side or could they do it for me :P unless it can't be done of course

I Bring You Another Wii Gaming Variation!

16 November 2011 - 08:20 PM

Recently i've been discovering new ways to play on the wii, a few months ago i posted the home made functional arcade cabinet that uses a wii as a MAME emulator and a gamecube controller modified for use with arcade machine style microswitches

here is the video of that :)

overall a very successful project that was well worth the time to complete!

but now i bring you... my car.

The other day i set off on wiring the wii into my car as a mini project, ordered 7 screens off ebay, 3 7" Car Monitors, 2x Sunvisor Monitors and 2x 7" Headrest Monitors. I also purchased a CD player which has video input and 2 outputs so the wii can be plugged in and shown on all screens simultaneously.

now, you might say 'the video quality of these screens is going to be crap because you are splitting 2 outputs into 7!' well, i thought of that, and bought a video amplifier which 6 of the screens are plugged into and the final screen is direct from the other CD player VID OUT :)

i made a fibreglass screen holder for the dashboard, modified the door cards to hold a screen each, sunvisors and headrests replaced with those off ebay, and one hell of alot of wiring, but unfortunately i had no HD camera phone to take pictures of that :(

anyway, enough talk, on with the video!

hope you all enjoy and feel free to ask any questions :)

My New Arcade Cabinet! (Definitely Related To The Wii Haha)

21 October 2011 - 11:42 AM

So, a few weeks ago I finished building an arcade machine from scratch, I drew up the plans and went to work on building it! I finally bring you the finished product, pictures will be added in a little bit as i'm currently using my mobile and I cant upload pictures here with it :(

A little more info on it, there is a wii inside the cabinet, a shelf to hold up a 22" LED TV, and a small flourescent light tube to light the cabinet sign up top. Its all powered by a multiple socket adapter inside with just a plug out the back of the cab which goes to mains :)

The controls are interesting and were by far the hardest part of the machine to get working properly with absolutely no previous soldering experience XD they are basically 2 game controllers stripped apart and instead of a button to bridge the connection, I soldered wires to ALLLLL the buttons points on the boards and connected those wires to arcade machine microswitches, the joystick was the same too if you get my terrible explaination haha

Anyway, enough talk i'll get a few pictures up, I have alot from start to finish but i'll just add ones I think deserve it hahaPosted Image

the guy playing is a friend, hired especially for the occasion haha

the video is worth watching up until around 3:43, and if any mods looking it this want to sort out the way the images are layed out (not having them side by side but underneath each other) then feel free to play around XD

I hope you all enjoy and any questions are welcome :)

SDL MAME 0.6 or SDL MAME 0.125

04 August 2011 - 02:13 AM

wondering what the difference is between these two emulators? which has better compatibility and better GUI etc.

currently in the middle of making a big arcade cabinet with the wii being used as the arcade machine emulator (i'm aware that the wii version of mame isn't built well enough to play all games yet haha) and have taken apart 2 gamecube controllers to use as the joysticks and all buttons (coins, button 1, button 2 etc) but i wont be using the left stick of the GC controller which i think SDL MAME 0.125 uses to navigate the rom selection and controls menu, is there a way to configure the menus to use the D-pad instead in the config files or something?

i understand that SDL MAME 0.6 already uses the D-pad to navigate menus so thats great, can navigate everything from the control panel of the machine if i can get it to work properly tongue.gif

thanks alot, i'll be posting pictures and such here or in a new thread when the cabinet is finished, not too far off now, just need the controllers soldering and a screen that fits the cab! biggrin.gif
