Topics I've Started

Rage ( a new topic)

01 August 2008 - 05:28 PM

Well I'm not going to repeat what I said in my last topic because you can go look at it. But my point is that there is a format revolution going on.

Much like the switch from NES cartridge to CD and from CD to DVD, from DVD TO DVD-DL, and now with todays new technology we are moving from DVD-DL to amazing 50gb and even 100gb blu-ray discs.

This is extraordinary. My topic was sort of a comment on how we can, as gamers, move on to an uncompressed format and enjoy a whole new world of visuals and graphics never before seen. This is tremendous, I mean, jesus christ...a 100gb DVD!!

But since I mention that the 360 version will suffer from compression my topic gets closed...By none other than Gaisuto...The same person that warned me because I made a joke when it was announced that the 360 would offer optional HDD installs and said "i wish they would make the rrod optional!"

I get warned but ace gunman made a joke the same day when someone asked "i'm buying a 360 what accessories should i get?" and ace gunman said "an extended warranty!"

why doesn't he get warned?

gaisuto is an xbot and it is interfering with his modding skills.. This is tremendous gaming news...I didn't bash anything or flame anything. I stated what the news article and developers said. If User SUbmitted News is for Nintendo only fine...but then you have to go and close these topics as well

Rage visuals suffer due to compression on 360

01 August 2008 - 02:41 PM

It seems that one of the best looking games to come out yet (that hasn't come out yet) will not be looking so good on the 360 due to compression/storage issues. PC, MAC, and PS3 versions will all be available on blu-ray (as well as a dvd option for pc and mac).
But royalties to put Rage on 3 seperate discs on the 360 would be much too high. So they must compress the game.

QUOTE
id's post-apocalyptic open-world shooter Rage (PC, PS3, 360, Mac) will look worse on Xbox 360 due to the compression needed to fit the game's assets on two DVDs, programmer John Carmack revealed at tonight's QuakeCon keynote.

This is like when they consoles made the switch from cd to dvd. Now to DVD-DL to blu-ray. tongue.gif

edit: oh and here is a trailer for the game

Amazon Soul calibur 4 $39.99 price mistake

27 July 2008 - 05:32 PM

So, I got an e-mail from Amazon.com with some blu-ray and PS3 game advertisements. One of them being Soul Calibur IV for $39.99.
When you go to the actual page though it says $59.99.
I'm not sure of the law though since it's online.
If this was a real store you could report them to Better Business for false advertising/bait and switch.
But since it's a web store I don't if it applies, and after e-mailing them 3 times they will not honor the $39.99 price advertised in the e-mail.
Is this bullshit? Y/N?

Killzone 2

21 July 2008 - 04:18 PM

Killzone 2 is sounding like an insanely good multi-player game!

First off, it's the first PS3 game to offer private in-game voice chat. You can conference with people on your team of your liking in private on a seperate channel than the rest without bothering the rest of your team just like xbox live allows. (except this is free tongue.gif )

QUOTE
Unique to Killzone 2 multiplayer is the way it handles squads in parties. While players can run around and gun at their leisure online like any normal shooter, players can group themselves into active squads on the fly to create mini in-game cohesive units that have a dedicated chat channel and improved team functions to get small objectives done. This helps organize some of the chaos on bigger maps—especially in the objective-based multiplayer.

Secondly, it offers jobs like TF2 and Sub jobs like FFXI

QUOTE
Basically, you select a primary job—drawn from your basic sniper, scout, engineer, medic, heavy, demoman, and solider-style Team Fortress 2 classes—and your secondary job from the same pool. Each job has a primary and secondary ability called badges that are combined when you mix them into a hybrid class. So, for example, a player who plays a pure "Medic" has access to a primary badge which revives dead players and a secondary badge which throws med-packs.

The same players switches to a primary of "Assault" and a secondary of Medic to create the "Assault Medic," which has double armor and the ability to throw med-kits. This lends itself to a ton of permutations, including my personal favorite, the robot-master "Engineer Tactician," which can create an automated turret with its primary and call in an air support sentry bot with its secondary.

Lookin forward to this, I didn't really like the first killzone but this one looks like they learned from their mistakes.

edit: forgot to add the link to the whole article

MAG PS3

15 July 2008 - 09:28 PM

Sony just wrapped up their E3 conference and have announced a few interesting things.

-GOD OF WAR 3!!

-Sony Online Entertainment's DC Universe Online. Jim Lee, creator of the game, comes out to talk it up.
"Imagine being a villain and helping all of the inmates in Arkham Asylum escape and attack the Batcave," he says. "It's a project that would make my 12-year-old brain explode with excitement." You'll create your own characters who fight alongside famous DC comic characters as you build your own reputation.

-Instead of a price drop the system will stay at $399 but now come with an 80gb HDD instead of 40gb

-And this one takes the cake.

MAG
a squad-based shooter with up to 256 simultaneous players at once. Characters will grow and fine-tune their skills as you keep playing. So it's large-scale combat with eight-man squads and character growth and ongoing campaigns. Not remotely possible" on other platforms. A massively multiplayer game. "Nothing like it on the market today.

There was also some talk about another new exlcusive "inFamous" and some new PSN updates. More stuff added to remote play. Movie/tv show rentals and purchase is available tonight.
