I can't wait till E3 so we can put these rumors to rest...only for it all to start up again for another year for the PS4 and the Nextbox.
But if this does turn out to be true, Nintendo really would be shooting themselves in the foot next gen.
This will be a fun 18 months.

It won't work. The secret to a successful gimmick is not making it sold separately. Developers don't want to build their games around a function that only a small fraction of the market can take advantage of.

It'll probably just be an optional feature, like they've always done in the past. It's not exactly going to be like the Wii-U is doing.
