Help firmware change

10 November 2009 - 12:59 PM

Alright so Heres my story.

Was on 3.2u updated to 4.0u with waninkokos + preloader + ios60 installer

Months lather:

Updated to 4.2u with waninkoko updater. HBC got messed up, ios files were being stubborn etc etc sooooooooo

Deleted 249ios with wadmanager
ran waninkoko cios installer
ran ios downgrader
used anyregion changer to go back to 3.2u

Now my problem: I want to go back to 4.0u so I can play SDcard games/channels but:
Waninkoko 4.0 updater runs fine but when it says Finished press any key to restart it reboots to a black screen. I force off and on and the screen past bootmii is always blank. Luckily I made a NAND backup just before hand to be safe smile.gif. I also tried reinstalling preloader + ios60+patching (it doesnt work for some reason it stops after downloading)

Anyone know why it wont update to 4.0 without blackscreen/bricking? or how to do it properly?

wii NAND dumper problem

I just tried to dump my NAND using the dumper elf and homebrew launcher channel.
After it boots it says "File Not Found" and restarts my wii.

Anyone help?

Elf to DOL and/or Wad?

03 May 2008 - 12:33 AM

What I want to do: I have the sega genesis with wii remote support elf file (I couldnt find it in dol form) and want to make it in to my own channel. I've tried searching a bit but I cant quite seem to find an answer.

HOW (IF Possible) Can I accurately make a elf file -> DOL
or
Inject and ELF in to a wad instead of DOL

Sorry if I over-looked a post, I did try searching and found DOLtool0.3, but it gave me a corrupt error when installing a channel I made after using it.

Wad Installer 2.1 Channel

QUOTE(broly7 from elOtroLado.net)

New version of wad-installer:

Bring new: - If there is some directory inside the folder "wad", is ignored.
-- If the installation fails, the tickets are eliminated installed.

-- Support for control of GC (for those who do not work
RESET button)

This is Not a new version of waninkoko's wad installer, this is a wad created by broly7 which installs a Wadinstallerv2.1 channel!
Place the wad you want to install in the wad directory on the root of your SD Card

Rapidshare: Wad Installer 2.1 Channel
MegaUpload: Wad Installer 2.1 Channel

I take no credit for this! Original Post by broly7 from elOtroLado.net.

Edit:
Here is a wad UNinstaller channel made by ME using waninkoko's waduninstallerv1.1 biggrin.gif
Place the wad you want to uninstall in the wad directory on the root of your SD Card

A few Quick Questions

03 December 2007 - 05:08 AM

Hey guys,
Lately I reinstalled my wiikey with a new one (had check connections error), upgraded to 1.9g, upgraded to 3.1u, then decided to play some games for the first time in months. So.... I boot up my wii and get to that "press A to continue" screen. I press A and notice that it fades and sticks for a second or so before switching to the menu. I dunno if that was caused by the new 3.1u wii firmware or what but its new to me and was wondering if thats normal.

My second question is about the drive noise. Whilst trying out games such as fire emblem and tony hawk proving ground, the wii drive was constantly making fierce "reading" sounds. Its fine in pretty much all other games that i've tried so far, but during fire emblem the drive noise was so constant and strong it seemed troubling...
My question(s):
Is it from a bad burn? Just high detail game? Should I switch to 3x disc read speed? If so, what are the negative sides to switching to 3x?
I just don't want my drive dieing out :/
