Nice! Lately I realized that I really should be playing games in languages I want to learn, rather than the one I'm most comfortable with. My immersion skills are going to crap, so this would be great for me to play. I'll be keeping an eye on this smile.gif

I don't know why people are so negative, yes this game will probably get an English release, however ATLUS hardly remains true to the content. They change the names of Jobs, people, places and monsters. I have a feeling this translation when completed will be superior to Atlus.

Agreed. Just look at the Tales of Hearts translation. Definitely better than Namco. "Fans" will always do better work.

Good luck with the project!

In Topic: Fatal Frame 4 English Translation Patch

Should we be reporting bugs/typos and comments right now? Because I've a few. A few places where the text runs outside of it's container, some general formatting suggestions (spaces after :'s?), and that garbled text, when it says "Checking Wii save data" or something. It usually comes and goes too quickly for me to read it, but where it says "Wii" seems to be garbled.

Otherwise, what I've tried is very playable, and very professional looking. I'm really impressed with the quality of the translation, especially how similar it feels to the previous games. Thanks a lot for your hard work!

Not to be a Debbie downer or anything, but the files in the "patch"... are these completely new files, or just modified from the original disc?

The later case, could still qualify as distributing copyrighted material... maybe look at a system which takes the original disc, actually patches the files it needs and then creates the "patch".

Just don't want you guys to get into any legal troubles, ya know.

In Topic: Sand of Destruction Undub

Wonder if this will need a font fix as well...

As for the undub argument, I don't think it's necessarily because the english dubs are bad, it's because we'd like to experience the game is as pure a form as possible. English translation is required for comprehension, but the voices more just convey the expression of the characters (I hate being "read to" anyway... the best voicing is Animal Crossing tongue.gif) It's like the Disney cast versions of Hayao Miyazaki films. Sure it's good voicing, but it's much much better in Japanese with subs. It just fits the style of the film. Just as Japanese voices fit Japanese animation better.
