It looks to be an update that actually seeks to prevent USB loader usage by making it painfully lagged and skip frames. Play it off of disc and everything works fine. Play it off USB and it's just no fun because you are crippled by the lag and can't compete. I want to play it off USB because it has to do so much reading off the disc it will eventually kill your disc drive due to the laser moving about so much. It sounds awful to hear those plastic gears chattering. Nintendo is apparently replacing drives if you play COD:BO a lot and your disc drive fails. Read the official COD:BO Wii forums if you don't believe me. I love the fixes they put in this patch (including stopping spamming of the same map more than twice which is intentional) but hate to see they are targeting USB users.
Here's the official list of changes in this update:
01/25/11
• Explosives are not visible through walls when using Hacker perk.
• Ninja perk is ineffective at times.
• Additional sound mix tuning for Ninja Pro users - increased ranges and volume of enemy footsteps, and removed player footstep sounds
on concrete material types.
• Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will be ensured one-shot kill headshots.
• Added a negative influencer to all spawn points to decrease the chances of spawning near an enemy. This will further improve spawning
protection on top of previous updates.
• Previous Map Spamming – players are currently able to vote for the previously played map an unlimited number of times
• Incorrect Prestige Emblems appearing at certain levels
• Sending out text messages to massive groups can cause the game to freeze
• Demolition – getting a loss registered despite earning a win
• Some players experiencing crashes when viewing leaderboards with a high number of Allies
• Stuck in spawn spot in Cracked
• Voice Chat breaks up at times
• More reported cases of "unbound" controls
• Second Chance "invincible glitch"
• Several fixes that should improve performance/lag for host and client
• Shorter spawn-in (black screen) times in MP matches
• Zombie Legs - create-a-crawler
And of course not listed:
• FUBAR USB online playability

COD:BO update makes playing off USB unbearable

NeoGamma with NTFS
03 January 2011 - 07:35 AM
Has anyone listened to their Wii disc chattering around when playing COD:BO? That game moves the laser around so much I'm sure it will eventually break the plastic gears. My goal is to use NeoGamma with a WD My Passport Essential 500GB USB 2.0 drive. It comes formatted as NTFS and I would like to leave it that way if possible. I have the latest NeoGamma running with the proper cIOS and can run games off a 2GB USB stick formatted to WBFS just fine.
Can NeoGamma run games from a NTFS drive as indicated in the Backup Loader basics sticky?
What backup manager should I use to place the game on the hard drive?
Does the file have to be in a 'wbfs' folder?
Does the file need to have a '.wbfs' extension?

4.3U with a little homebrew
07 October 2010 - 03:21 AM
Here is my situation. My Wii is at 4.3U with an original WiiKey. I run almost all of my games from disc. I like to use NeoGamma to run a few games from a USB drive. Before updating to 4.3U I had cIOS249 v14 and cIOS250 v65535 and no other cIOS or modified IOS. I updated my HBC and used the official Nintendo update to go to 4.3U. Of course I knew this would stub IOS249 at v65280. I reinstalled cIOS249 v14 and NeoGamma works fine using it. The only problem is that every recent disc wants to run a system update and re-stub IOS249 v65280.
What would be the easiest way to avoid the updates on the disc?
- Can NeoGamma be set to work from cIOS250?
- Can I use a WAD tool or cIOS installer to set my cIOS249 version > 65280?
- Some other solution I am overlooking?
Keep in mind I don't want to modify discs by stripping updates or modifying them in any way. The only IOS I want to modify are 249 and 250. I don't want to mod anything else to block updates from disc either.

WAD-Manager_v1.3 Vs. cIOS36_rev9 Installer
02 April 2009 - 06:19 PM
Here is my situation:
I have a 3.4U Wii with HBC installed. I have used WAD-Manager to install IOS16. I would like to install cIOS36-rev9 to run Trucha signed games and run the USB Loader. If I run "cIOS36_rev9 Installer" I get a -2011 error. My understanding is that this error is a result of not having a cIOS already on my Wii that will allow the installation of fake signed WADs. It is also my understanding that since I have IOS16 on my Wii I can run a custom WAD-Manager for IOS16 that will allow me to install a cIOS. Is there a cIOS36-rev9 WAD file out there, or should I use WAD-Manager to install some other cIOS that will then allow me to run the "cIOS36_rev9 Installer"?
Please note that I do not want to downgrade at this time or modify the original IOSs on my system.
