Ulcerative colitis & Crohn's disease

23 August 2011 - 12:01 AM

So about two years ago, I got these symptoms. I won't go into detail about them, but after a while they started to worry me. They dissapeared after about a month, and I was too ashamed to tell anyone. You know, it's hard to talk about what happens "down below".
about a year went by without trouble, and then it hit me again. After two months it didn't stop, so I got in contact with the hospital, and they cancelled other people to get me, because of my symptoms. They thought it could be something dangerous. So I did some small tests, gave some blood, and had to come back for some less fun test. Also, I got a lot of stuff home with me, to take samples and stuff to turn in. After that I got sent to a bigger hospital, to do even worse tests. And before that I had to drink 2 liters of the most awful drink in the world. Some laxatives... and it was surely hell. I even threw up twice drinking it and stuff...
Anyway, I made the tests, and later got a letter saying that I had to go to the hospital on dec 23rd... Hell no, We celebrate christmas on the 24th in Sweden, and the hospital is in another town.
So because of that, I had to wait to January to get the defenitive results, Five months after the symptoms started, and they had ended just then.
So, what did I have? Ulcerative Colitis. It's a chronic disease, I will have it for the rest of my life. It's not terminal, or deadly, or however you put it. It's pretty harmless.
However, it's quite common!
Soo, I just wanted to discuss this with anyone interested, or anyone who also has this.
Males aged around 20 are the most prone to get this disease, and they have no idea what it comes from. Stress is something that can set of an attack though.

So, what is this Ulcerative Colitis? Well, You'll have to go to the bathroom between 5 and 20 times a day, and most of the time it's just blood coming out. Yeah... Nice huh? You may loose weight, become tired, angsty, and it makes you more vurnerable to get bowel cancer. But the disease in it's own isn't dangerous. So that's a relief smile.gif (But it depends on how aggressive it is of course. Some people have to amputate some bowels!)

Oh, and a note on the topic title, Crohn's is basically the same thing, but on a different part of the intestines... It's further up the system.

TL;DR: I have a chronic disease, and want to talk to others about it, AND talk with others that have it.

Soo, any questions or thoughts you want to add?

How do I cheat on a PS2?

08 August 2011 - 03:10 PM

I am wondering what the best options for me are, if I want to cheat on a few (retail) games.
I've read a lot about the Free McBoot, but since I only have Swap Magic v 2.0 I don't think I can use that to install the FMCB.
Using swap magic to load a burned copy of codebreakers, loding a retail game? would that work?

I've searched around but only find info about 3.6+ versions of Swap Magic tongue.gif

First-party Xbox 360 games better than Wii and PS3

19 July 2011 - 09:43 PM

Microsoft's Chief Financial Officer Dennis Durkin is quite proud of the first-party games released by his company and its partners for the Xbox 360, saying that, in terms of sales and quality, they have trumped exclusive games for rival platforms like the PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii.

All current platforms have had some extremely impressive exclusive titles, from Microsoft's Halo, to Sony's Uncharted or Nintendo's Super Mario Bros., but there's only one console that's the real winner, at least in the eyes of Microsoft, and that is, surprising to almost no one, its own Xbox 360.

According to the company's CFO, Dennis Durkin, Xbox 360 first-party titles have sold the most units and become the most critically acclaimed titles.

"I would ask you to go and look at some of your data, just to compare first party performance over the course of this lifecycle, because I think our first party performance in terms of quality bars and units per title this shift has been superior to our competition's," Durkin told Industry Gamers.

The website quickly took a look at the Metacritic average rating for games published by Microsoft's Game Studios, which achieved a score of 75, and compared it to Nintendo, which got 77, and Sony, which earned 74.

Durkin continued, however, saying that first-party games not only manage to sell lots of titles, with franchises like Forza Motorsport or Fable shipping millions of units, but also, through the new Kinect franchises, showcase where third-party companies should go.

"But certainly we think first party is an important tool and you can't dispute titles like Forza, which has consistently come out on a repeated cadence and sold multi-million units. And now new titles, like Kinect Sports, which has come out and sold over 3 million units. So we are, not only building existing IP and incubating around titles like Halo and others, but really building new IP in new areas. And that's going to be core to us... to build those experiences and monetize those."

While Durkin may be extremely confident in his company's Xbox 360, all platforms have received a lot of quality first-party titles, so, in the end, many gamers were treated with quality experiences no matter their preferred consoles.

Oh, Really now Mr. Durkin? Sounds to me like over confident crap talk.

English translation of release titles

01 November 2010 - 12:41 AM

Just thought of something when I saw the "tomodachi collection" and translated it to myself as "friend collection"... Didn't we have a translation line for the games with non-english titles, in their release box?
If so: Why was it removed, and couldn't we re-insert it?

Thought it could be a good idea so that many questions like "what is this game?" could be avoided to some extent.

For example, someone maybe thinks this title looks awesome 経済学を教える鈴木さん (keizai gaku o oshieru suzuki san) but when they read the translated title "mr. suzuki teaches economics" they don't bother with it...

Headphones plugged into speaker question

06 September 2010 - 08:21 PM

Hi!
I have some really good speakers for my computer, a "Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System".
Now, I've noticed that if I plug in my headphones into the headphones jack, the volume is maxed out and all I can do is raise and lower volume in windows (and further in itunes etc.).
Is it normal that the volume knob is disregarded while using headphones? I've had other brands which could raise and lower the volume with the knob...

so: is it normal? can i "fix" it? and no, I won't buy another system because this one fits my needs smile.gif
