Since I had to read every single post on the thread by WiiPower without any results and got tired of it, I decided to post my workaround to get Metroid other M working (for me).

What did I do?

-WiiScrubber
-Open bs-met.iso
-Rightclick Partition 0 ===>> Delete Partition
-WBFS Manager 3.0.1 ===>> Options >> Advanced >> Partitions to keep: Only Game Partition
-Add to Drive

I did not scrub the image with the scrub option

I would like people to confirm this.

Unbrick Wii?

Hi,

My friend followed this guide when his Wii was 4.2:

His Wii got bricked @ downgrade part (ofcourse)
I tried SaveMii with NSMB Wii with 4.2 update, not working.
Also tried 2 Autoboot disks, but these probably aren't working because there's no modchip in it.

Hope anyone can help me out on this.

Black screen when returning to Wii menu

I'm experiencing a problem with my Wii.

I followed xzero's guide and the Wii is working fine altough I'm having one problem.

Everytime I click Return to Wii menu (even when I'm in the Wii menu) my screen goes black and I have to power off/on the Wii.

I found out, by NOT installing Hermes' cIOS 202 (IOS 38 merged with 60) 222 (IOS 38) and 223 (IOS 38 and IOS 37) the problem does not occur.
I tried the above on a different Wii.

So I thought, let's just uninstall the Hermes' cIOSes, but the problem is not solved by this.
For some reason when I try to update my Wii trough nintendo I get error 32007 (probably because of cIOScorp a long time ago)

I hope anyone can help me out with this problem.

Since I got tired of many people reading all posts in previous topic (Workarounds for Firmware 4.2, so far)
and not listening to the fact they should only follow the guide on the first post and ending up with a (semi-)brick I decided to make a complete guide.

The guide is fresh made, so any typo's outdated/missing or wrong info is possible.
Please don't hesitate to tell me if you found anything that's missing/outdated or wrong so I can update the guide.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Appearently there are some flaws in the guide (due to me smoking too much...) I will be updating the guide this sunday oct 4th.

Just pay attention to the following things in the guide:

-Switch Page 8 and 9 around, ie. Install cIOS38 Rev14 first and after that run DOP-IOS
-Working WAD for Neogamma - Download here
-Wad Manager 1.5 for the WAD Installation part - Download here
-When booting Wad Manager to install the Wads, there will be a question for NAND emulation, select the "disable" option.

Do not update your wii to 4.2 unless you really want to!!!! If you haven't update with the hackmii installer the update will completely erase all your homebrew software and does not add any extra features to your wii besides fcking it up!!

If you ARE going to update to 4.2, please use the hackmii 0.5 installer first to update all components! HBC,DVDX,Bootmii boot2 AND TO INSTALL Bootmii IOS!!!

DO NOT USE METHODS IN OTHER POSTS THAN THE FIRST POST (THIS POST) IN THIS TOPIC !!!!

THE OTHER POSTS WERE EXPERIMENTS AND CAN/WILL BRICK YOUR WII!!!

Since I got tired of reading all pages (and probably tons of other ppl) I decided to make a checklist for 4.2 and what has been/what has to be done to run a fully modded Wii with 4.2 firmware.

Disclaimer: If you brick your Wii by doing something stupid or by not following instructions it is at your own risk and I cannot be held responsible for this!

I now present you the: OHNOES !! I FCKING UPDATED MY WII TO 4.2 FIX!!!

So you updated your wii to Firmware 4.2 using nintendo updater?
This is what to do:
Current Wii Firmware Version 4.2:

Run Indiana Pwns hack or run SmashStack Exploit
Run Hackmii 0.5 Installer and Install HBC,DVDX,Bootmii boot2 AND BOOTMII IOS
Download IOS249 with NUS Downloader (00000001000000f9 v65280 to download the IOS249 from NUS ) - thanks to kovani

To get the full database for NUSD go here:

then open your database.xml and copy over everything from the database code section and paste it over everything, then save and your nus should show everything that you can download.
Use cboot2 to run Wad Manager 1.4 and delete IOS249 (if you dont do this you'll get error at next step)
Use cboot2 to run cIOS38rev14 installer and choose "Do not reload IOS" following Network install.

For all other ppl experiencing problems getting a working cboot2.
cBoot2 can be obtained by emailing the following email address (you will get an auto-reply): cboot2getithere@gmail.com
Run DOP-IOS MOD v5 and Trucha Enable IOS36. (for future preloader installation, not needed yet)

Update!! Don't install preloader just yet, it will brick your Wii!! SO SKIP STEP 7,8 and 9!
Install Preloader (0.29 for now let's hope crediar comes with an update soon)

(current Preloader hacks: http://wiibrew.org/w...#Systemmenu_4.2)

Note: Preloader will stop autobooting HBC due to the change of title ID.
In order to get it back to autoboot:
Download http://www.mediafire.com/?jjjnbmtzygz (thanks to giantpune)
put the dol on the root of your SD card. start preloader. click load/install file. select the dol you want. go back to preloader settings. put "autoboot" to "file". now you can delete the dol from your sd. (thanks to giantpune)

Run AnyTitleDeleter MOD (click here)
Delete IOS 222/223 (for Hermes' cIOSes)
Run Hermes' cIOS installer (download here), select IOS249.
Install IOS 222 and 223

Run Wad Manager 1.4 and install preferred launcher wads (NeoGamma, USB Loader GX, etc etc)

Congratulations, you have now modded your Wii again after being very retarded (like my friend) or have some other retard update your wii to 4.2
