How to get Metroid other M working

09 September 2010 - 01:27 AM

Since I had to read every single post on the thread by WiiPower without any results and got tired of it, I decided to post my workaround to get Metroid other M working (for me).

QUOTE(WiiPower @ Aug 29 2010, 12:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
1. Did it freeze for you at the Baby's Cry Cutscene? If it freezed on other cutscene, please describe it here.
2. Which filesystem did you use? Or did you use a disc?
3. Which cIOS did you try? Please only post the cIOS your loader actually used. There's no point in writing about Hermes and Waninkoko in CFG for example, if you have both installed, but don't tell CFG correctly to use the one or the other.
4. Which loader did you use? Which revision?
5. Which release did you use?
6. Did you remove the update partition manually? If yes, how?
7. Please describe the issue: Does it with the picture on screen? Black screen? "An error occurred"?

1. NO, GAME WORKS FINE
2. WBFS
3. cIOS56rev20 @ 249
4. USB Loader GX rev 935
5. Metroid.Other.M.USA.REAL.PROPER.REPACK.WII-BiOSHOCK
6. No
7. Game works fine.

What did I do?

-WiiScrubber
-Open bs-met.iso
-Rightclick Partition 0 ===>> Delete Partition
-WBFS Manager 3.0.1 ===>> Options >> Advanced >> Partitions to keep: Only Game Partition
-Add to Drive

I did not scrub the image with the scrub option

I would like people to confirm this.

Unbrick Wii?

23 June 2010 - 01:55 PM

Hi,

My friend followed this guide when his Wii was 4.2:

http://ps3news.com/forums/wii-news/ultimat...usb-107159.html

His Wii got bricked @ downgrade part (ofcourse)
I tried SaveMii with NSMB Wii with 4.2 update, not working.
Also tried 2 Autoboot disks, but these probably aren't working because there's no modchip in it.

Hope anyone can help me out on this.

Black screen when returning to Wii menu

29 October 2009 - 04:10 PM

I'm experiencing a problem with my Wii.

I followed xzero's guide and the Wii is working fine altough I'm having one problem.

Everytime I click Return to Wii menu (even when I'm in the Wii menu) my screen goes black and I have to power off/on the Wii.

I found out, by NOT installing Hermes' cIOS 202 (IOS 38 merged with 60) 222 (IOS 38) and 223 (IOS 38 and IOS 37) the problem does not occur.
I tried the above on a different Wii.

So I thought, let's just uninstall the Hermes' cIOSes, but the problem is not solved by this.
For some reason when I try to update my Wii trough nintendo I get error 32007 (probably because of cIOScorp a long time ago)

I hope anyone can help me out with this problem.

[Guide] Amarokz Softmod Wii 4.2 Guide v1.0

02 October 2009 - 03:38 AM

Since I got tired of many people reading all posts in previous topic (Workarounds for Firmware 4.2, so far)
and not listening to the fact they should only follow the guide on the first post and ending up with a (semi-)brick I decided to make a complete guide.

The guide is fresh made, so any typo's outdated/missing or wrong info is possible.
Please don't hesitate to tell me if you found anything that's missing/outdated or wrong so I can update the guide.

Feedback would be appreciated.

October 2nd: v1.1 released
October 2nd: v1.0 released

Password to pdf file is: Amarokz

Appearently there are some flaws in the guide (due to me smoking too much...) I will be updating the guide this sunday oct 4th.

Just pay attention to the following things in the guide:

-Switch Page 8 and 9 around, ie. Install cIOS38 Rev14 first and after that run DOP-IOS
-Working WAD for Neogamma - Download here
-Wad Manager 1.5 for the WAD Installation part - Download here
-When booting Wad Manager to install the Wads, there will be a question for NAND emulation, select the "disable" option.

Thanks to the people that gave a feedback to my guide.

Guide can be downloaded here

Pre-Compiled rarfile with almost everything needed can be downloaded here

Happy Modding!
Cheers!

Note: It's still NOT RECOMMENDED to update your Wii to 4.2 as all it does is give you a hard time installing homebrew
