Greatest Question in the Universe

If I make a thread, and no one sees it, is a thread really made?

Who Am I?

04 August 2011 - 02:19 AM

Some say that a man is defined only as how others see him. It makes sense after all, following the logic of trees falling and what-not. Nevertheless, they are wrong.

I try to make my life transparent in both real life and through the intrawebs, but even so, it would only make sense that each of you can only see the tip of the iceberg. Such is the nature of man, only registering what is immediately apparent, after all. And then, there are those of you who have no idea who I am. I'm sure there have been new tempers since I made my semi-departure from this place (I say semi because I keep getting dragged back by Ace Faith and messages from Costello...not to mention the regular GBAtemp podcast that I'm on all the time...).

Don't get the wrong idea, though. I'm not going through some sort of existential crisis. I know exactly who I am. I know exactly what I do, and I know exactly what I need to do. This is just an exercise in recreation.

So, let me have it. With as much length or brevity as you deem fit, tell me who I am. I'd very much like to see.

Well, guys. Like the title says, it is time to say farewell.

I'll probably be coming back to this thread until either it dies, or it's locked / deleted, so there's that - but I'll refrain from posting.

Originally, I was going to make a thread that went down the list of rules, and broke every single one; I even wrote it up. However, I decided not to do that for two reasons. First, I feel it would detract from the main point, and second because most of the rules can't be broken within the confines of a single post (also many of them are repetitive). It makes no difference either way, since it appears that me posting is against the rules as is, anyway.

I won't go into the details of what happened in this thread since...the last time that happened, the thread was locked (Gee.)

Regardless, it's a privately owned forum that I have put no financial investment into, so it isn't really my place to judge what happens here for you, all I can do is take it or leave it. Which is what I'm doing.

If you want to contact me still, here's some ways of doing so:

Warning! Spoiler inside.

It was fun playin' around, guys. I'd throw out some shout-outs, but I'm sure that I would forget some people, so I won't.

I don't hold any grudges against any of you (save for N48qru081toF848qrra94qk ... what an asshat). Would be cool if you weren't quite so easy to hold them yourself, though.

Yours lovingly,

Monkat

P.S.

penguindefender : I'd totally hit that.

P.S.S.

I made this thread in the EoF cuz ... that's where most of my posts already are. Figured I'd keep with the trend.

P.S.S.S (Actually wouldn't it be P.P.P.S? Post-Post-Post-Script?): "Once you've made your mark, you've made a threat to society."

Spiral Knights Announced By SEGA

15 March 2011 - 09:04 PM

SEGA has announced a new multiplayer online action adventure game called Spiral Knights.

It's being developed by Puzzle Pirates outfit Three Rings and will offer "console-style adventure" in a free-to-play, persistent world.

We're promised "vibrant" graphics, groups of up to four, guilds, crafting and customisation.

The press release doesn't specify, but Spiral Knights looks to be a PC-only game. You can preview Spiral Knights right now from the official website.

Source

I actually had to search for a valid source here, having heard about the game on Twitter. Naturally, I was intrigued by the name, and it looks to be a fun MMO.

I asked @SEGA on twitter about what platforms it would be on, and while they did not respond, I did recieve a tweet from one person who is of unknown origin (maybe someone who works at SEGA who forgot to log out of their personal Twitter, a beta tester, or a developer. Either way, from her site, she seems to be an MMO nut). @avocadobravado says that the game will run cross-platform Windows, OS/X, and (most importantly) Linux. While it is unknown whether it is a downloadable game or an in-browser game, the fact that it is published by a big-name company and cross-platform implies in-browser. (Although, Three Rings' other game, Puzzle Pirates was written in Java [without using DirectX, etc.], so it was also cross-platform, so this may also be the case here)

EDIT: Trailer:

Looks very reminiscent of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, no?
