System Menu: The system files are corrupted.

28 March 2012 - 12:50 AM

I don't post here often, but I know a fair bit about Wiis. My baby is having trouble loading the system menu. Mine is a launch day console and I've been following the wii's homebrew since the Twilight Hack. For a long time now it's been running bootmii boot2 set to autoboot the homebrew channel. I only see the system menu when I need to change a setting or sync a wii remote. Yesterday I exited to the System Menu from the homebrew channel to sync a remote and received the error message "The system files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii Operation Manual for help troubleshooting." I quickly went to bootmii and made a new backup before I made things worse. It gave me the following output:

Quote

Factory bad block 308
Factory bad block 662
Factory bad block 1210
Factory bad block 1390
Corrected page 143306
Corrected page 153100
Factory bad block 2783
Factory bad block 2897

I'm aware of the Factory bad blocks, but I'd never seen Corrected page before. Out of curiosity I did a normal boot (no sd card inserted) and the System Menu loaded. I synced the remote, rejoiced, and then proceeded to the shop channel. From there I quit to the system menu and "The system files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii Operation Manual for help troubleshooting." So then I reinstalled the system menu (4.1U) and afterwards it loaded just fine from the homebrew channel. Then on the second attempt to access it "The system files are corrupted. Please refer to the Wii Operation Manual for help troubleshooting."

Anyone have any suggestions? I ran SysCheck but it crashed while scanning for IOS vulnerabilities and the log it generated isn't very useful. Luckily I already have bootmii so this isn't much of a problem. For all I know this has been an issue for months. I'd still like to find a work around if possible since it's a little annoying to reinstall the system menu every time I want to use it.

EDIT: I've been asked to run nandBinCheck -all -v, so here it is: http://pastebin.com/VxJtEwMP

AceKard 2i Planet Puzzle League Problem

29 January 2010 - 10:28 PM

Received my AceKard 2i in the mail yesterday. It is not my first flash cart so I do have some experience with them. Much to my dismay I can't get it to play Planet Puzzle League.

On AKAIO 1.5.1:
Shows initial logos and makes it to the Press Start screen. Music on Press Start screen is distorted and no buttons do anything. Touch screen doesn't work either.

On AKAIO 1.5:
Shows initial logos and makes it to the Press Start screen. No music on Press Start screen and no buttons do anything. Touch screen doesn't work either.

I've tried many different settings combinations, but these are the current ones:
Save type: 2M
Select Save slot: Default *
DS Download Play: Default
Soft-Reset: Disabled
Cheat/Action Replay: Disabled
AK2 Loader: AKAIO

I've tried the AceKard in 2 different DSis as well as with a 4 GB Micro SD and 16 GB Micro SD.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Using the official 4.21 no games will load. All say Loading and then yield a red screen. Perhaps this is a clone?

Sakura Audio Playback Volume

29 December 2009 - 08:59 PM

It's nice that Sakura lets you change the volume to over 100%, but does anyone know at what point it could damage the DS speakers? (I have a DSi and M3i Zero if it matters)

Autobooting games when holding a button?

14 February 2009 - 01:17 AM

Sorry if this has been asked before, but would the following be possible?

I know preloader can set a dol to autoboot instead of the system menu, but would it be possible to code a dol that checks to see if a button is held down (on either the first cube controller or on the first wiimote) and if that button is held down it boots the disc channel, otherwise it loads the wii menu as normal.

For example:
(If the buttons that were checked were Y on the cube controller and 2 on the wiimote):
Scenario 1: Y is held down on the first gamecube controller: boots wiigator's backup loader
Scenario 2: 2 is held down on the first wiiremote: boots wiigator's backup loader
Scenario 3: Neither Y on the first cube controller or 2 on the first wiimote is held down: boots wiimenu

I'm assuming it wouldn't be very difficult with a few if/else statements, i just have no idea how to do it.

Load Multidisc Gamecube Backups from Disc Channel?

09 February 2009 - 01:54 AM

Is it possible to load multidisc (as in multiple games on 1 disc, not a game that requires two discs) gamecube backups from the disc channel? I know to get wii backups working in the disc channel you use CIOSCORP or SoftMii or something similar, but before I go through the process of getting that setup I would just like to know if with Waninkoko's custom MIOS is it possible to load multidisc games from the disc channel.

The only reason I ask is because from my experience Backup Loader Gamma (as a channel) gives me a GCOS menu with the options BOOT DVD and Credits. BOOT DVD prompts me to put a disc in the drive and press A and ultimately doesn't load anything. Loading the GC Backup Launcher (through HBC) gives me a black and white menu where I can choose which game to load. I'm just wondering if I'll get the menu that will actually allow me to choose which disc I want when loading from the disc channel if I were to install something such as CIOSCORP. And if I needed to tweak any settings to make that happen what I would need to do.

Thanks in advance for any help with his.
