In Topic: Nintendo "Project Café" Rumor Superthread

21 April 2011 - 05:59 PM

QUOTE(Midna @ Apr 21 2011, 07:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Okay new post for new content. What the hell is this? Someone just posted it in an IRC channel of mine:

Looks way too unrefined for Nintendo hardware...

On the subject of "Custom IBM tri-core PowerPC CPU", that sounds *very* similar to the 3.2GHz Tri-Core "Xenon" CPU in the Xbox 360... has IBM reused the Xenon design to develop "Project Café"'s CPU, or has the 'source' used this as inspiration for a made-up console? Both the 360 and "Project Café" have AMD graphics too (though the 360 obviously doesn't have an R700 family GPU)... sounds eerily similar to the 360, which could be a tip-off for a false spec. Just a thought

coming up next metroid and mario party hack!

Metroid maybe, but I doubt anyone over 10 years old plays Mario Party, given the current quality of the series.

In Topic: is playing backups dangerous for the wii??

12 June 2009 - 09:58 PM

It's been asked many times. The answer, as long as you don't follow any dodgy guides, is NO. Backups do not wear out the lens. It's a myth.

However, couldn't you have just asked this in the other thread you madehere?

In Topic: Calling all Coders!

I am not a coder, but I know that many game sound players (E.G. GSF) rip the sound core out of emulators and use it as a backend (like how the Linux GSF player used the VBA sound core at the heart of the program). It shouldn't be hard if the right developers are willing.

In Topic: Opera Channel!!!

17 May 2009 - 07:42 PM

It's a dev cvs file. Nothing new, found it about 4 months ago. Emailed Opera about it and they never got back to me, so either the password is changed or its only internally accessible.

Oh and forbore, there is a UNIX style root in it, so while the machines that the code is written on are Windows based, it seems that their automated builder bot runs on a POSIX compliant system, most likely a linux, possibly a BSD derivative.

EDIT: As it is an internal build bot it would make no sense to make it available outside their internal network, especially for security reasons. So I would presume it poses no threat at all.
