In Topic: FULL SPEED PS1 emulator on 3DS?

13 April 2011 - 10:36 PM

There's no way to know for sure until we know more about the architecture of the 3DS processor(s) and of course, somebody tries it.

An N64 emulator is much easier to predict especially since Nintendo designed the 3DS with eventually porting N64 games in mind.

In Topic: The 3DS needs CUSTOM FIRMWARE!

Once an exploit is found in the 3DS software (which will happen... eventually) a CFW won't be far off. And I'm pretty sure anyone would prefer a CFW over purchasing a flashcart once all the major bricking bugs are sorted out.

Of course, that's if it's even physically possible to run a 3DS game off of the SD card unless something is hardwired to read only from the game slot. Then it would be just for taking care of AP protection and homebrew using the available hardware through the SD card.

In Topic: USB Loader GX or CFG Loader?

14 January 2011 - 04:49 AM

Every game I own boots off of my FAT32 partition with minimal tinkering in the load settings in USB Loader GX v2.0 using all the up to date cIOS's on default install settings.

It all depends on if you think a better UI is worth installing new cIOS's and putting a boot.dol on your SD card.

If you use WiiConnect24 you have to disable it and wait 24 hours before the daily new custom arena deletes itself, then try it and go to the SD card in the custom arena.

If that doesn't work after multiple tries (more than 3 or 4), buy a cheap 512MB-1GB sd card and use that. MicroSD cards can be sketchy with this kind of stuff.

In Topic: Now that the PS3 Keys have been leaked...

i dont know that i would use the work "leaked". i think of "leaked" as being when somebody on the inside purposefully, for whatever reason, gives some sort of sensitive data to people on the outside.

the PS3 key was left exposed on accident. and some genius haxxors found it.

A leak could also be unintentional. Like a memory leak in a program.

I'd say the keys were found due to a dumb mistake by some Sony cryptographer but is a security leak nonetheless.

As for the original topic, I for one am excited that the PS3 is wide open. My interest in Wii hacking really only went up to the USB loaders and motion based homebrew since I use my PS3 for media. I'm mainly waitiing for a good media app with NTFS support. That would mean no more container switching and file splitting to watch HD media on PS3.

I doubt the Wii scene will die any time soon. It may slow down while some devs start focusing on PS3 applications though.
