Can I change my username?

18 October 2010 - 11:59 AM

I realize the old thread was hidden a long time ago. I pm'd Costello a couple times a few months ago and didn't get a reply so just a heads up because I'm not sure what happened (maybe you're too busy). I kinda forgot about it. So to anyone who knows, is it actually possible to change my username? If it's difficult, no biggy. If anyone is willing to help, that is greatly appreciated.

"nutella5600" => "nutella"

Thanks.

EDIT: Oh, sorry. I just saw there was another thread about this. It said to contact an admin, which I did so, I don't know.

nutella's HSC Major Artwork

nutella's HSC Major Artwork

8-Bit Retro Thingy [Can't think up a name, help me.]

After 12 solid months of hard work and effort, here, my Major Artwork for my final year of grade school. (That's a joke, I just crammed in the last 5 weeks). I don't want to bore you with my long stories so here's the tl:dr version. I'm fucking tired, but also extremely relieved. Also, I tried asking for help here, but no offence to anyone from my thread, nothing really helped. (I guess I was exploring something I wasn't comfortable with just to be "different")

Here's my FAIL thread for reference: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=211...p;#entry2630976

So, here it is, packed in spoiler tags, because I love you guys.

"Left 4 Duck Hunt"
Warning! Spoiler inside.

"Space Invasion"
Warning! Spoiler inside.

"Tetris City"
Warning! Spoiler inside.

All three of them
Warning! Spoiler inside.

My trial marking is tomorrow and then I have a week to finish up so any suggestions and tweaks I can make, please go right ahead. I really need them. Keep in mind the tonal work is really faded here. It's actually much darker than the photo, but you get the gist of it.

P.S. I really need some frikken' help for names. You're welcome to suggestions. In fact, I DEMAND IT!!

Anyways, peace out dawgs.

In Serious Need of Artistic Guidance

02 March 2010 - 09:49 AM

Basically I'm doing my HSC Major Artwork, which is like my major artwork for my final year of grade school and I'm half way through the year (year began on September) and have produced like nothing at all (at least what I plan to submit).

Just to give a bit of background, I explored humorous and comical works, knowing fully that it was just an exploration experience and not my final work. While doing a test work, I got bored and put an 8-bit Mario in my work and my teacher laughed and said it was the best part of the work. I explored 8-bit works and stumbled upon the gallery, "i am 8-bit". Basically, I decided try working with super old video games like tetris, pong, space invaders, the like. I found works that really fit my style, yet I can't think of ANY ideas that fit that style. (http://michelgagne.blogspot.com/2009/07/8-bit-legacy.html link if you want to have a looksies). I tried to make a similar work with tetris pieces and try change it up a bit and make it my own. In short, it epically sucks balls, and I feel my teacher agrees. (If you REALLY want me to, I can post it for you Scratch that. Posted!!).

In short, I want to go in the direction of works BASED on 8-bit video games (i.e. not necessarily 8-bit style, but remind us heavily of these 8-bit games in a comical and fun way).

I draw exclusively, and don't really paint, sculpt or any of those things, really, I just draw. My style is very controlled, and my teacher feels that while that does have its merits, its really holding me back. Most of the works that score well in art are those that are huge and use more expressive techniques. Marking wise, the work is marked 50% resolution and 50% on concept.

Please, if any of you have any serious help you can give me, that would be HUGE. Serious ideas please and no cliche ideas too.

Here is a small scale test for that tetris work I mentioned (Its backwards because YouCam's ghey):

How do you respond to telemarketers?

09 February 2010 - 09:30 AM

Just wondering because I get so many calls from telemarketers despite being placed on the do not call list. Today, I got a persistent little shit, so I did my typical favorite. In summary form, it goes a little bit like this (you may have heard it before, because its pretty classic).

Me: Hello.
Telemarketer: Hi. Would you like to subscribe to this magazine? This magazine... (and then he blabs on for like 2 minutes)

Me: Excuse me, I'm a little busy right now. Can I have your number?
Telemarketer: Sure. (Then he gives me a number, and I'm like, shit, this kinda backfired)

Me: Okay... Is that your number?
Telemarketer: Yes, its the company's number.

Me: Oh, I meant like your PERSONAL number.
Telemarketer: I'm sorry I'm not obliged to give that information.

Me: Why not?
Telemarketer: I don't give strangers my number.

Me: What's the big deal.
Telemarketer: I don't want strangers calling me at home.

Me: See what it feels like... douchebag.

End call...

Isn't it cool when you dig up stuff you haven't seen for years?

Check out these pics I draw on paint back some 7 years ago. They ain't great, I know, but keep in mind I was in 5th grade when I did these. There were about 4 other pics just like these which I can't find anymore, but, I don't really mind. Favourite one is Kang, due to the other three being wildly out of proportion, especially the Samus one. Wish I had time to do these things anymore, but at least I get to prepare for my HSC artworks next year.
