Tomb Raider Reboot Delayed Until 2013

Crystal Dynamics, the developers behind the new Tomb Raider reboot have announced on their blog that the game has been delayed until next year, citing "additional development time" as their main cause for the delay.


“Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months,” he said.

“We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait,” he added. “The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.”

Crysis 3 Announced For Early 2013 Release

EA have announced that the latest entry to the Crysis franchise will be releasing in early 2013, stating that the sequel will be the “first blockbuster shooter” of next year.

“Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. “Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

Pre-ordering the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition will net you early access to the Multi-Player Crysis 3 Signature Bow (As seen in the Box Art.) as well as an XP boost in Multi-Player.

BioWare Announces Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut

BioWare have announced 'Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut', a free download which is set to expand upon and clarify the events at the end of the game, which left a lot of loyal fans feeling disappointed. The unhappy fans raised $80,000 for the Child's Play charity.

Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes.

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team,” said BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka. “Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe."

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series added, "We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player."

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available free-of-charge for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this Summer.

Sony Shuts Down Zipper Interactive

Sony Computer Entertainment have this week confirmed the closure of Zipper Interactive, the developers behind the series of SOCOM games, the MMOFPS PS3 title MAG and their most recent game, Unit 13 for the Vita which they released earlier this month. The closure of the studio is expected to affect approximately 80 employees.

This is what Sony issued in a statement to Game Informer regarding the closure:

Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm the closure of Zipper Interactive, a Seattle-based internal game development studio that has been part of the global development operation of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS).

The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS. Zipper has completed all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita. Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13.

There Will Be No Beta For Halo 4

343 Industries, the new studio behind the next Halo trilogy have confirmed that there will be no Beta for Halo 4, breaking the chain of the previous entries in the franchise. 343 Industries confirmed the news over on a question and answer session being held over on Halo Waypoint. The developers had this say:

"While we are testing Halo 4 code, gameplay, and systems at significant scale to get excellent data, input, and feedback, we are focused on polishing and shipping our experience for the duration of the year, and splitting resources to manage and build a beta is not on our schedule."

Halo 4 is expected to hit the shelves for the Xbox 360 at the end of 2012.
