In Topic: Why do PS3 and XBox 360 owners talk crap about the Wii?

I own a PS3 and the Wii. I play my PS3 mainly because of its awesome graphics and its online capabilities. I'm over the Wii's novelty factor, as the Move or Kinect have already brought that to the competition. The Wii needs something new desperately to survive in the next generation.

Well they had Bootmii and priiloader on 4.2u, then upgraded to 4.3u stock and it wiped everything. I'm afraid some of the IOSs that control the drive got corrupted. Is there anyway to reflash a stock firmware?

So my neighbor's wii was not reading discs. I thought it was the laser, so I went out and bought a laser for it. I installed it, and its still not reading discs. Now at some point, they had bootmii installed as well as homebrew channel. I don't know if they messed it permenantly, but its still not reading discs, even though its on virgin 4.3u. Why is it acting up like this, and what can I do to fix this?

You can't have boot mii and homebrew on a virgin wii, virgin means it hasn't been softmodded before, and bootmii and homebrew are both softmods.

How old is the Wii? most wiis disc drives fail over time. search how to replace wii disc drive on google.

Well my wii and the neighbor's wii are both launch. I don't know why their drive would fail. I would think the laser would be the fix. Is there any solution to it that would not cost me any more money?

I was going to update to 4.3U after installing the latest HBC, but my Wii won't let me. I don't have disc or online updates blocked, and when I go to update from the Metroid: Other M disc it starts up, I click accept and then the progress bar moves like 1 space and then I get a message saying Wii Update Failed.

If I use the online update, it starts to download and then gives me either an Error 32004 or 32007. I tried to use Waninoko's 4.3b updater, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to run. I was thinking I might try ModMii to see if that works. Also, I don't know if this is related or not, but since I updated to the new HBC, I can't get FTPii to work properly. It loads and mounts everything, and I can start to connect, but while my FTP client is trying to grab the directory list, FTPii says the client has disconnected, and I have to shut down FTPii and restart it before I can even try to reconnect.

Not that it's super important, but can someone tell me why my system won't even let me do the update?

i had this issue too. I could never update my wii on 4.2 modded. Lucky me, i had a NAND backup of 3.3U, and I just updated to 4.3u from there. ALWAYS MAKE A CLEAN NAND DUMP!
