Still having problems with newer games...

14 May 2011 - 11:13 PM

Hey guys, I now have a bit more free time to do whatever I want, so I'm trying to get back into gaming. Last time I posted here, I was having problems palying Bulletstorm. I ended up throwing the disc away because I figured it was a bad burn. Burned it again, and still couldn't play it.

Then I downloaded Portal 2. I also updated to the latest dash (I think). At first, it didn't work, but I tried the activate.iso method and it worked perfectly. I was able to play through the whole game without a problem. I figured that the activate.iso method would work for all the other wave 10-11 games, so I downloaded and burned Crysis 2, Bulletstorm (again), and XBLA Triple Pack. None of them work. I have tried burning on both OSX and Windows, I've tried patching the games to a lower game, and I've tried using the activate.iso disc and not using it. Nothing works.

When I don't use the activate.iso disc, I get a "Play DVD" prompt. When I do use it, it says "Play Game", but once I run the game, I quickly get a "Unrecognized Disc" screen that says I either need to clean the disc or restart the console. Portal 2 still works fine using activate.iso. What gives?

Also, I can't update to LT because I don't have the stuff to do it here. All that stuff is back home, and I actually don't even know where I left it, so updating is out of the question. Either way, I shouldn't have to update seeing as Portal 2 works just fine, and all the games I'm trying are the same wave as Portal 2 and are not AP2.5. Some help would be really appreciated.

Been gone form the 360 scene for a while...

03 March 2011 - 09:01 PM

Hey guys. As the title says, I've been away from the 360 scene for quite a while, and I just recently started having time to play 360 again. However, it seems like there's a bunch of new things in the scene, so I just have a couple questions.

For the record, I'm using a Xbox 360 Pro with (I think) 1.61 iXtreme firmware. Got banned from Live before LT came out so I never bothered updating. My dash is pretty old... it's pre-Kinect.

1) I recently downloaded Bulletstorm and it burned just fine. Put it in the Xbox and the Xbox thinks it's a DVD. I went online and read that apparently Bulletstorm is wave 10. Does that have anything to do with it, or did I just get a bad iso? I burned the second disc of Dead Space 2 a couple days before this and it works just fine, so I doubt it's my laptop.

2) Is it possible to play XBLA games/DLC without a JTAG console now? If so, is there a tutorial on this? Do I need to be able to access Live?

3) Is there any way to play those AP protected games on my console? The only one I really care about is Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

I think that's it for now, thanks for your help.

Xecuter CK3 Probe v2...

07 May 2010 - 05:42 AM

Alright, I'll try to keep this short. I was banned during the last ban wave, and I've been really wanting to get back into Xbox Live. It's not so much that I miss the online play, but I really miss DLC and XBLA. Ideally, a JTAG 360 would be the best thing for me, but I don't have the money for it, so I'll have to settle for the next best thing.

I'm planning on doing a gutswap with a random Arcade unit from Wal Mart. Now the problem so far has been that I can't solder at ALL, and the newer Lite-Ons require soldering. I just saw an ad for this new v2 Probe which supposedly offers sodler-free flashing for all Lite-Ons. However, it does say that certain ones require cuts and glueing... does anyone have any experience with using the v2 Probe? Is it complicated/noob friendly? I don't have any experience at all with this stuff, and I'm terrible at it to begin with.

Really weird problem with my friend's 360.

30 March 2010 - 03:32 AM

Alright, so my friend has this old 360, manufactured back in 06. It's his second 360, and he never uses it because of this problem that started happening. He hooks up the 360 to any TV, turns it on, and nothing shows up. I tried using 3 different sets of cables (the ones that came with that 360, the ones that came with his Elite, the ones that came with MY 360) and it didn't change a thing. No red lights come up, and it doesn't sound like the fan is overheating. It seems to be functioning completely normal, but the picture just doesn't show up. All the cables are hooked up correctly, and yes, the switch is set to SD and not HD. I honestly can't tell whats wrong... like I said, we even tried different TVs. When he uses the exact same cables and TV but plugs his Elite in, it works perfectly fine.

We found a store that says they can repair it, but they want to charge him 60 bucks just to tell him what's wrong with it. Do you guys know what it could be?
