wiimc smb share setup?

ok, so i have been trying to get an smb share going to stream movies from my laptop to my wii, but i cant for the life of me get it to work....is there a good tutorial somewhere that can walk me through it step by step?? i have tried searching with google, but i can't find any info relevant to the wii, just setting up shares for other computers on my network..

Probably easiest just to download filezilla and set up a share with that.

It's free and works really well,

Edit: I should mention I use Filezilla and the latest WiiMC, really great combo.

Filezilla is only needed if you want to use FTP, not SMB. This isn't the most detailed tutorial, but it gets the job done:

i did try to follow that tutorial, but it didnt seem to work for me....which ip address do i need?? my laptop, or my router??

ok, so i have put my laptop ip address and other details into wiimc according to the tutorial you linked, shared the folder from my laptop, but am getting an error telling me i cannot connect to the share....

never mind..i had to put my user account name and password into wiimc as well.....the tutorial said to leave those blank....
