If you manage to find one that's made before summer 2010, then yes it should contain a Liteon.
Hitachi for Slim was released somewhere around Oct' '10.

Hitachi for Slim was released somewhere around Oct' '10. just asking for when i go 2nd hand shopping for one , i guess , the MFR and actually looking at the drive will be the only way to know for sure which one it is yea ? |

Yes.
If you REALLY want to be safe then you should get a 360 Phat. (with a 150W powerbrick) Then you'll be 100% sure of it being a Liteon drive. |

All Phat drives are dumpable/writable.
Only the Slim Liteon is writable/dumpable. Slim Hitachi might be dumpable but I've yet to see info about it. |
