Can it wait? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

The CEO of PlayStation France, Philippe Cardon, has recently spoken out regarding Sony's possible next-gen plans and the likelihood of a Monster Hunter title appearing on the PlayStation Vita this year.
According to the CEO it doesn't look like it will be Sony who play their next-gen hand first, in fact, he feels that it will likely be quite the opposite:

“It’s true that there are many rumours, but I couldn’t tell you anything. The Wii is pressed for time because it is in decline. In our case, we have a lot less pressure. We were the last to leave the PS3, and will probably be the last to announce something.”

He also chimed in about a much-anticipated title for the Vita, Monster Hunter, whilst discussing the Vita's launch sales, he had this to say:

“The games available at launch in Japan do not correspond to the typology of the Japanese public. It lacks a particular game, Monster Hunter, scheduled for the coming months. Had it been there from the start in Japan, the story would have been different."

This is what happens when your console is cream of the crop as it is anyways and doesn't desperately need an update. No wonder they're taking their sweet time, they want to sell some Vita's first.

I wouldn't worry about the Vita's market in France, it usually goes like crazy here.

Portable ones, maybe, but no one (publicly) knows factually how much power next generation games will need.

We shall see, my friend. We shall see.

Uncharted alone is going to sell the console in Europe and America, not to mention the upcomming titles.

It must be good to be Sony tight now, not rushing for a new next-gen console, as PS3 is so good already ( Lookin' at you WiiU )

Indeed, but its large initial price gave Sony some terrible intro years sales wise for the PS3. As for the Vita, its suffering weak sales despite the same price as the 3DS when it first launched (which sold considerably better in the same time period). We'll see what the Vita sales look like when it leaves Japan though, could very easily be a different story in different regions of the world.

uh I beg to differ, I don't think uncharted will be a huge system seller on a portable.

The way I see it, the current Vita library lacks games that are typically made "for Japanese audiences", it's very much "westernized". 2012 will throw in some JRPG's and knowing life people will immediatelly lap it up.

Care to explain "why" if Monster Hunter TriD, Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear 3D are supposed to be 3DS's "killer apps"?

Because it doesn't sell much on the PS3? C'mon, it has tons of western audience appeal and is quite popular over here. I think it's definitely a nice launch title that both brings Vita owners a familiar face and shows off what the system can do from lame INNOVATIVE control features and graphical power. If you wanted a launch title for Europe and America (and Australia too, I won't leave them out) for a Sony system currently, Uncharted is a pretty nice choice.

In what world are those killer apps for the 3DS? I don't honestly expect them to sell well at all on a portable like 3DS.

Monster hunter is a huge system seller in Japan, western wise it's a dead franchise. Uncharted isn't the MH of Japan in western territory. I will go far as saying majority of the PS3 owners won't pick up a PS VITA for uncharted just to play it on a small portable.

It'll sell it pretty damn well and its certainly not the only thing going for it. It's not like a shit launch with Uncharted, it's a rather good launch with Uncharted.

Also if you don't think Metal Gear Solid or Resident Evil would sell well regardless of platform, then you're wrong. Their big name franchises and they usually can push millions of copies.
