Hi, i'm thinking to buy a ds console. I'm not interested in 3ds for its lack of games and want to catch the ds games. Should i go still go with 3ds? Also for dsi and ds lite, i wonder if dsi is worth the extra money for its capabilities. I need no wifi, dsiware or a camera. I need longer battery life. Do you think i should go with ds lite or does dsi have some more power concerning the gameplay? Thanks in advance.

The 3DS has the ability to play all DSi and DS games.

 No GBA games however. Also, the battery life indeed is very low for the 3DS.

Not true. If the OP is after DS games, he will get many hours of gameplay out of the battery per charge, also when playing games in 3D and using max brightness settings, I get more than 4hours, which is fairly decent considering how crap lithium ion batteries are for today's day and age.

about your concern for the lack of games for the 3ds, it would be getting a shitload of good games in these few months, and on top of that you can play your ds games with or without your flashcard ,
also , everyone gets bored of a system after some time, so if you buy a 3ds you could still play 3ds games if you are bored of your ds titles,
so i suggest a 3ds cuz its a win-win situation

I think we should mention playing ds games on the 3ds sucks. The quality of the images are drastically less than the original, and they are scaled down at times even on specific 3ds settings.

if you are wanting to play ds games i would recommend a ds lite or a dsi. If you are wanting to get 3ds games go for that.. as everyone has stated it can do all... but as i said.. the quality of the ds games on 3ds is terrible.

If you have a collection of GBA cartridges and you want to play that, then go for a DS Lite. It's the one reason I can think of, aside from arguably, battery life, or a very low budget. Edit: Or region locked DSi games that can play on the DS.

If you absolutely don't want a 3DS, just get an XL, so far I've heard it has the best battery life, and bigger screens to boot. Flash carts are compatible with the latest firmwares too. It should provide the best experience in playing DS/DSiWare games only with the bigger form factor. The 3DS can squeeze probably 5-6 hours or more with DS games only, and you can future-proof your console in case there's actually a good game you like for the 3DS coming out.

So yeah, in terms of mere choices, go with a 3DS, unless you're on a tight budget or want to play GBA cartridges. The XL and 3DS are only a few $ away from each other, so that's only a purist option.

EDIT: As for the post above this, while it does have a different quality, some don't mind, some do, so it's really up to the TC. It has different effects on 2D and 3D games. I'd personally go for an XL if I didn't want any 3DS games ever but that's not my case.

lack of games ? yo do know you can play DS DSI games on it so in reality it haves all those games as a library too

If you want the cheapest solution that will play GBA carts and has the longest battery life, grab a DS Lite.

Nah, DS Lite is considered the best DS of the line.
I would buy one new while you still can.
Plus new DS games are still coming out.

Don't go for a 3DS, original DS games look really crappy on it.

I looked it up, the battery life is actually better on the DS Lite than the DSi.
I saw you can also get extended life batteries for the Lite, you should grab one of those.

Well...

For sole DS games (you might want to reconsider this), get the DS Lite. With more than 10 hours of battery it's a bliss to play on it. Almost all flashkits work on this as well. GBA games are also supported.

For a mix of DS/3DS experience, get the 3DS. With the 3DS there's downloadable DSi and others, 3DS games and DS games (doesn't look THAT bad. 70% of the time it's overrated) are supported. Battery isn't as good though. 5 - 8 hours on DS software.

You might want to reconsider playing solely DS games. The 3DS has over 200 titles under development and most of them aren't known yet. The 3DS although having a 'suckish' battery plays both DS and 3DS software.

As for DS/DSi, go for DS. The DSi is practically a worthless upgrade for it's unused internals, horrible camera and browser. You can enjoy the same online experience on the DS with DS games.

yeah, the only real advantage the DSi has over the DSlight is that there's some DSi only downloadable games. But only a few, not nearly enough to justify the upgrade.
