Assuming your r4i gold is from r4ids.cn, you can update your flashcart (using another system that it can run on) to make it compatible with the latest 3ds version. First, find out what the official website is (it should be written on the sticker of the cart). Second, download the updater from the official website. Third, make sure you have another system.
