Welcome to the 14th issue of the GBAtemp Recommends Revival Project! This project is a weekly feature where we share our favorite games and applications with you. The things we recommend may be "old school" titles, a Homebrew, a ROM hack, sleeper hits, an application, etc, but one thing's for certain, we think they are fantastic and deserve your attention!

Solitaire

Posted Image Posted Image

Solitaire by American Video Entertainment for the NES was released in 1992. Designed to be a very simple version of Klondike solitaire, the game is played by matching alternate suites of cards until all cards have been piled on top of the Aces. This version of Solitaire features multiple graphics, an option to draw 1 or 3 cards, and a memorable 8-bit theme song.

This game has found its way onto every emulation friendly system I have owned. The game requires little thought and only a small amount of strategy, making it the perfect bedtime companion. Additionally, what aids this game is the calming sounds of its classic theme song. The repetitive looping track is memorable, magnetic (you'll be humming it), and extremely relaxing!

The simplicity of its design makes it a great addition to any PocketNES or NesDS ROM collection. It may not have the flash of other Solitaire versions and it may not offer as many options, but its charm alone is worth checking out!

Genre: Card Game/Puzzle

You could have done this yourself, lol, but here it is for everybody's convenience:

The music is certainly catchy. :)

Edit: and a related side note: I swear it uses some of the soundFX from Gargoyle's Quest for the GB. The two games were released around the same time. Weird. lol
