Great review. This game has to be probably my favorite in the series. One thing that I wish they would have implemented somewhere in the game though, is some sort of arena like Oblivion. I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for a decent gladiatorial game to come out, and these games have to be the closest the game industry's gotten to something good.

Not one word about Morrowind. I'm disappointed in all of you. Sure Skyrim is great, but it doesn't hold a candle to what Elder Scrolls is all about. Sure, I may be a hipster for claiming these views, but to overlook by far the best entry in the series is not only a mistake, it's downright blasphemy. Skyrim's story is flat out boring. It's near non-existent. Sure, you're a Dragon-Born. But who cares? You never really got to feel like somebody. It never unfolded into...well, you're the reincarnation of a god. I'll laud what Bethesda did in Skyrim. It's huge. It's daunting. Some may even call it an epic journey, but it is what it is. A giant list of shit to do. How it's getting all these Game of the Year awards is beyond me. Now...don't get me wrong. I love the game. Put over 60 hours into it, but there are too many technical things wrong with it, save for one big one where you can level your character to 81 in a matter of minutes. No range of enemy types, boring, uninspired dungeons and lackluster, and laughable voice work keep Skyrim from what it could've been. It's a great try--miles better than Oblivion--but just not good enough.
Seriously...not ONE word about Morrowind? |

I'm waiting to buy a decent PC so I can get the Morrowind Overhaul mod. You're also playing the game wrong if you're getting max level quickly. I know for one, power leveling yourself will get your ass handed to you. Just because an exploit exists doesn't mean you should take advantage of it. The enemy types I can almost agree with. The dungeons are actually very well created, though all the candles and such is kinda silly. I also think you're wrong on the voice acting. Characters are believable, voices match and is at least 20 times better than Oblivion, or even Fallout 3's. The only thing I could wish for is that followers should have more than 3 lines. I was talking about everyone that almost insisted the only two titles in The Elder Scrolls series was Oblivion and Skyrim. Now I know that Arena or Daggerfall aren't as popular, but they also existed. Morrowind was just the one that put em on the map. I should have also stated that Skyrim really felt like Bethesda used too much of the wonky Fallout 3 engine and it's way of combat. The cutaways are nice, but I felt like I should've had a blaster to go with my broadsword. I've been pissed at Todd Howard for years now, can ya tell? |

Ooh, sorry to disappoint you there, sports fan, but he was the lead on both games.
Proof: http://en.wikipedia....iki/Todd_Howard Edit: Well starting on Fallout 3 anyway. But that's what I had meant. Sorry if you thought Fallout in general. Edited by SubliminalSegue, 18 December 2011 - 06:20 AM. |
