New Super Mario Bros. 5: Clone Tag Team

OFFICIAL WEBSITE:

http://www.clonetagteam.webs.com/

OFFICIAL THREAD:

http://nsmbhd.net/thread.php?id=51

I decided to announce my hack here today, I need to "advertise" the hack a bit more.

In my new NSMB hack, the story stays the same. Mario chases after Bowser Jr., who has kidnapped Peach. The difference? Very Crucial. Mario's been given a clone to help him on his way. However, the clone might be more trouble than it's worth...

The clone is there to mix up the gameplay a little. The hack is a full level hack, with some levels playing alongside the clone. There is some levels without clones due to both limitations and that I still want to keep in the pure Mario-style gameplay that made the entire series the success it is. I've specifically designed the levels so that the clone can help you out, such as taking a mini mushroom so you don't have to, metaphorically "taking the bullet". But I've also set levels up where playing with the clone adds to the pure challenge of the game. I recently finished World 3-3, with the clone it is one of the most challenging levels I've ever made, but without it it is a bit too simple.

But if you don't want to play with the clone, you can simply play as Luigi. The clone won't appear. The clone is not necessary to complete any level, in fact by the end of each level the clone will be gone anyway. But I found having the clones really mixes up the gameplay so it isn't "just another Mario hack", but something that steers away from the others and becomes a league of it's own.

NEW FEATURES OF THE HACK:
-Inclusion of Clones in some levels.
-New Music (Thanks to Orengefox's NSMB Sound and Music Hack 1.5)
-NSMBWii Tilesets
-Use of Unused objects.
-New World: Isle Delfino (World 3)
-New World: Tiny World (World 5)
-New World: Giant Land (World 6)
-New World: Space (World 8)
-The Note Block is back!!
-Multi-Layered Levels.

PROGRESS LIST:
World 1: Mushroom Way - 100% Complete
World 2: Desert Land - 100% Complete
World 3: Isle Delfino - 100% Complete
World 4: Swampland Heights - 100% Complete
World 5: Tiny World - 100% Complete
World 6: Giant Land - 100% Complete
World 7: Level Heaven - 100% Complete
World 8: Space - 38% Complete

OVERALL PROGRESS: 92% Complete.

I've given up looking for Beta Testers as so little have asked me, and most of my testers broke the rules and didn't test.

And finally to answer your question "why is the clone in there?" well, why not? :)

Well, that was quite an in-depth analysis. :P

Now I'm interested in trying this out! ^_^

This is a very interesting concept for an NSMB hack. Having the ability to control 2 players at the same time would make for some interesting gameplay. But perhaps, wouldn't it be better to make it Luigi?

It would be nice, but the clone always uses the Mario model, yet the game actually thinks it's Luigi, which is why when you play as Luigi the clone doesn't appear, because the game thinks the clone has already spawned.

Figuring out how the clone chooses it's model will take a lot of time and a big brain. I'm not that great a hacker :/

Isn't possible :P You can not use the sprite which generates the clone in Multiplayer :(

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.

"My own clone! Now neither of us will be virgins!"

Seems like a nice idea...but Luigi would've been better instead of the clone.

Wow, that was so inappropriatly random, everyone ignored it
Still this seems so simple yet it could make the game so much more fun,
And why stop at luigi, the clone could be anyone, making it bowser would be cool.

Sounds interesting.
Did the clone idea come from Mario sunshine?
I'll be awaiting the final product.
